i had a job that looked perfect, but in the interview they started giving terf/transphobic vibes (i'm a cis woman, but queer & an ally) and i couldn't bring myself to pretend i was like them. i stood firm in stating my definition of women and femininity is inclusive. morally feels good, but that's not gonna pay the bills.

i'm so tired of this rejection cycle. i feel like i'm on my very last thread, already have enough saved up for an SN protocol, but i'm still not convinced i want to die fully. situations like these don't help

I would be concerned that you sabotaged yourself in some way, of course I wasnt there and I dont know the details. But you could have picked up 'vibes' that weren't really there because that seems like a really weird topic to come up during an interview. But otherwise, the sad reality is if you want a job, you may have to lie to them and say what they want to hear. In todays economy, not many people have the fortunes to pick wherever they want to work, you gotta take what opportunities you can get.

unfortunately it's a job with a woman-centered mission, so those q's were kinda inevitable since I'm guessing they don't want someone who's idea of being a woman is fundamentally different from theirs.

yeah, i did my best, practiced and everything. unfortunately waking up everyday to a job that disagrees with my morals would eat me alive. it's surviving for me, not living.

Hey,

Hard one because I understand at some point you basic needs have to be met and as bluebook said you may have to take whatever opportunity you can get.
I really hope you'll find a workplace that align with your values.

I completely understand you but if I may add a small note: if you have to survive it doesn't mean it is forever. I know it is far from ideal just wanted to add that small footnote.

I'll jump in and say you did the right thing. If you are currently in a field that is more left-leaning then getting into bed with a company that is even vaguely transphobic is a bad idea. The reality is despite wanting to ctb you haven't punched the ticket yet, you're still here, you're still trying to set yourself up for success in the future. Do what is right for your career as if you weren't planning on catching that ride.

I'm in the same boat, hang in there, it's shit for all of us. It's not your fault, you can do everything right but if you don't have the connections or the recruiter is a bored asshole then it's up to chance.

people made getting a job sound so easy, but the reality is every career, like even fast food requires patience and dedication and connections. It's life, it's hard. Breathe, touch grass, don't let it define or consume you.

thank you for this. i'm also still hoping for now! sadly, since i've been just surviving for so long, i need something more substantial to not ctb since whatever little color life did have is starting to lose it's shine.
