577 I love Toko and Gencide Jill as their own characters and are some of my favorite characters in the games but the D.I.D aspect is kinda bad (at least it somewhat subverts the trope by having her not kill anyone throughout the game and her acting as a protector/prosecutor alter). Also the instant switch of pronouns for Chihiro makes me uncomfortable.

you talking about toko just reminded me of how bad the mental health rep in all of the danganronpa games is. i don't think "subverting the trope" means much, if anything, considering her alter is literally named "genocide jill." and is like That.

i'm tentative to say chihiro is even trans at all. that makes referring to them with male pronouns less discomforting but i understand that. i've never ever seen chihiro as trans personally and i think the notion of them being decent trans rep is laughable. no one likes chihiro because they think they're trans; they like chihiro because they're a really good character.
