Sorry to learn of your loss of Bean. What a beautiful kitty he was!

In this world, there is no way for us to avoid sickness, age, and having to feel the pain of loss. And when it comes to truly loving another being, it is part of the deal to experience the full gamut of emotion. The love, the frustration, the laughter and the grief. It comes as one package.

I've mentioned my cat before. Regrettably, I didn't truly appreciate her until after she was gone. I came to realise that she was there for me as an unconditionally loving friend when I was otherwise surrounded by abusive people, as if a literal godsend. (And yes, this is also how I became a 'cat extremist'!)

Of all the being I would like to be reunited with in the afterlife, she is #1. If I could catnap with her again, I'd never need anything more. Speaking of which, if you're very open-minded, there have been numerous NDE reports involving people being reunited with pets. So I believe the story does have the happiest possible ending down the line. But for now, the grieving process must continue. Know that you are not alone.

This is such an old comment and I accidentally clicked on the wrong thread anyway so this reply just looks awkward but I didn't appreciate my childhood dogs enough. They both passed a decade ago and I was too young to grieve and fully remember them properly but I sometimes think of them so the fact that I will be reunited with them and I finally get to appreciate them makes me so happy.

I personally think that we'll lose consciousness but I also have a theory that we'll pass through a tunnel of everyone we lost congratulating us for dying before moving to that state.

If I put Brad or Janet (my guinea pigs) with ANY of my cats or dogs (except maybe Harvey) they would be on the buffet forthwith. Lol Same thing with Larry (my red conure). He would be an appetizer so quick heads would spin.

Now I'll never think of The Rocky Horror Picture Show without also thinking of guinea pigs. Thanks, I guess.

Well, the state of affairs around here has changed drastically. Garfield (one of the gingers around here) would lay on top of Brad and Janet's pen and watch "Pig TV". He would also reach thru the pen's wires and play with Brad pretty frequently. So one day not too long ago I was feeding the pigs and since their jar of food was just on the other side of the table (and Brad likes to hang out the door when it's open lol) I stepped around to the other side of the table and started filling up their bowl.

I hear this really soft thump and look up to see Garfield INSIDE Brad and Janet's pen very gingerly (oh haha! Yes I am a dork in real life. ) reaching a paw out to touch Brad. He stayed in the pen with them for 10-15 minutes and then hopped out and I shut the door.

Now, more often than not Garfield is on Brad and Janet's pen, or inside the pen with them. He and Brad have developed a game -- Garfield lays down on one side of the pen and starts flicking his tail like he is irritated by something. Them Brad tries to catch it!! It is HYSTERICAL! Then, when they get tired, Brad will curl up against Garfield's belly and they will both go to sleep. It is SO stinking adorable it hurts!

And yes, I have weird pets. My other ginger thinks he is a dog. Him and the dog are inseparable. But then again the damn dog thinks he is a cat. I caught him up on a window sill with FatBastard (yes the other ginger is FatBastard. Because he is fat. And he is a bastard. ) sound asleep in the sun. Only thing that kept him from falling out of the window was he had two feet planted on the top of the bookshelf under the window. So ... I don't keep anything on top of that bookshelf anymore.
