Suicide prevention campaigns keep saying " don't kill yourself think of your family or friends". What about people who don't have family or friends? Or what about the people who don't have understanding or non judgemental family members or friends? Suicide prevention campaigns seem to ignore these people

I don't tell my family I am suicidal because they are judgemental. My family think because they overcame adversity and God helped them anyone who can't do the same is "weak". People like this are impossible to reason with.

If a person doesn't reach out to their family or friends it's for a reason. Not everyone has understanding family or friends . Reaching out can make it worse. I regret reaching out so many times believe me I did

i don't know if this is entirely accurate, but from my experience a lot of anti suicide and self harm films and PSA's often feature one specific demographic, and it's usually young, white, attractive, thin, and "sweet girl next door" middle class women with caring friends and family who happen to get a little depressed or they're getting bullied.

They don't show incels, or mean women, or POC, or anyone that's not special enough to feel bad for. Again maybe this is my experience and I'm sure there is a lot of rep for these groups especially now, but growing up I remember watching a lot of these films to feel better and not do it but I often found that they had a very narrow view of depressed people.

Yeah your family do sound hard to open up to. That must be hard, especially if you know they will spout stuff you don't align with. But at the end of the day they are family, and noone will put in more effort for you I expect than them? How do you know unless you try?

But yeh suicide campaigners get on my nerves. It's like, "why do you want people to suffer more than necessary"? Idk. But I haven't seen any such campaigns say think about your loved ones, that's just emotional blackmail!!

Hm. I saw an anti-suicide poster at NC State once. It pissed me off. At the time, I was vibrant and full of life and potential. But I knew for a fact that none of the colleges (especially those which are all a part of the bureaucratic state system) really cared about anyone at all. It was a LARP. They only like money and pretending to care about others.

I would say the modern mental health field in general. Where to "get better" you are asked to reach out to your support system like family and friends, but in most cases there is de facto no easy way to build a support system if you don't already get along with your existing family and don't have friends.

The world's full of grifters. Any organization that turns a profit - unless it's living solely off donations to stay afloat - doesn't genuinely care about you

I'm paranoid as fuck about making the people close to me dislike me in any way so just straight up telling them "yeah I'm suicidal, please do something about it"? Yeah fuck that I would rather talk about all the kinds of porn I've Googled in my life than admit I'm a little fucked in the head. At least with the former I can excuse it as "a byproduct of the sexual revolution".

i like my stupid little analogies
I mean this in the most respectful way possible, but this reminded me of this one TikTok where it was like

"End racism or have your trans identity accepted" and the audio was like "you have a heart? 𝖆 𝖈𝖔𝖑𝖉 𝖔𝖓𝖊🥀"

To be fair though, racism is pretty much innate due to hunter gatherer brains being at our core so I don't think it'll truly 100% go away...especially if British football fans still exist

I think ppl that reiterate that rhetoric fail to accept that life is simply pointless to some ppl and no amount of therapy or drugs will change that. It's ok to give up despite what society says, a louder voice is not necessarily one you want to subscribe to.

To put it nicely, why would I work, exert myself, and inconvenience myself for the entirety of my youth when the option of not having to experience any of that exists. I would be glad to accept the consequence of not knowing any potential moments of joy if it meant I don't feel the inverse as well. It's so simple to me, I don't see why other ppl are unable to see it from this perspective. They always hit you with the "never give up" and "but what abt the happy moments" as if I haven't considered the foreseeable future.

They probably design their campaigns to reach the widest audience possible and assume that most people have either family and/or friends. I can understand how a lot of people who don't have either could see the campaigns as either empty platitudes or excluding them.

It's the same with murder victims or missing persons cases

Unattractive people, people with chaotic lives etc don't matter quite as much as everyone else
Almost as if their misfortune was self inflicted

"Suicide prevention campaigns" are just another sick joke made by the rotten system to keep it's slaves in line and in check.
After all, what better way to collect tax money than having more "servants" put in their place.
It is a disgusting trick and with all honestly, for anyone pro life and stupid enough to buy into that shit, the joke is on them.
They deserve no mercy, as they are also part of the problem.

Ya I think that's accurate. I've never seen an ugly woman on a missing persons poster. Maybe if she's a mom. Idk. I think most ppl care more about a pretty woman with no kids than an average woman with kids. Idk if there's been studies on this.

Yes , I think suicide prevention is for those people only . It always says you have people who care but I don't have anyone who cares. They simply ignore me because I have these mental health issues and I am suicidal. My so called family and friends don't understand me, they don't want to. They see me as a burden so now I don't reach out to them.

Yes I believe it is for such people, it too difficult for society to acknowledge that some of us truly have no one who cares. It is easier to accuse and blame. Maybe the majority of people do not understand or they do not want to.
