I have acquaintances. I have many different skills which I'm used for by these people. Being used is better than feeling nothing at all. Last night was a bad night for me. Not a one of these people gave me more than common pleasantries when I reached out.

I truly only have one true friend.

I've never had IRL friends my whole life. I used to have online friends but they all turned against me when my ex said lies about me to them. I proved them all wrong but they still don't like me anyways, they never did. Now I just come onto here to socialize, I'm happy to be friends with anyone on here if they want~

I have some online "friends." By that I mean we used to be a lot closer like in my early twenties/teens (I'm 30 now) but everyone has moved onto other things so I see them on fb and we "like" each other's posts and such but that's about it. About half the online friend I had as a teen I no longer have contact with.

IRL I have...uh....one friend I guess. A couple acquaintances. We've been friends since Junior High; we were both cutters and both OD'd at one point or another. Like calls to like? She's moved on a lot more than I have though; she has a son who will be starting middle school this year (!!!!) and works full time. I'm just...stuck.

My other friend (also Junior High onward) killed herself 3 years ago.

No and no. I do not believe there is or ever will be anyone who doesn't eventually find me distasteful. Fortunately my parents raised me in social isolation so I'm not too bothered by the loneliness. Though I'd be a liar if I said that the times I had friends who cared about me weren't wonderful. I was made for solitude but a part of me craves to have that closeness again. I must remember that I am not deserving of that.

i agree. not only that, but unrewarding. social interaction is just a way for people to affirm their positions in society, and i already know i belong at the bottom; no point in having that rubbed in my face

me too, i have experienced closeness a bit before... but ultimately don't think it's worth it and very difficult to achieve and generally am happy with my situation, though at times it does hurt seeing so many happy people not gonna lie..

It'll be easier to kill myself now with zero meaningful connections, but it also makes my time alive even more unbearable.

I'm good acquaintances with everyone I know in real life(Had a few enemies in the past,but they're all gone now),but going out of my way to get close to people IRL is not something I actively do,fear of being judged for having viewpoints outside the norm and all. I'm not closed off and wouldn't actively try to push people away(unless I don't like them as a person),but I don't go out of my way to initiate friendships.

I've made plenty of friends online but most of them have gone their own way however. Maybe I'll make some here.

I've had a best friend for over 10 years now. First met in high school. We both have problems with depression. She's a teddy bear of a person and it makes me sad to see her upset.

I've gone through very very many, but now I have just one real life friend left because I ditched the rest. They live like 5 hours away from me though and we met online initially so even that barely means anything now, I refuse to travel down there anymore because it's not worth it.

Cut off almost all online friends too, couple of people here I enjoy conversing with and piling my shit onto (ex-dee) and I managed to refrain from deleting 2 or 3 of my online friends "from before" but we barely talk because they all know I'm planning to off myself, online friends don't wanna hear about that and find it incredibly easy to move on.

Guess it's still more than some people have but I'm terrible at maintaining any type of healthy relationship so I just don't bother anymore. Talk to people who want to talk to me, don't try to be better than I am, I end up being very selfish but some people think I'm worth talking to a little bit so I'm happy with that.

Interesting spin this is the case even if people don't want something material from you, they want company or comfort or relation of some kind. If they don't get any of these things then they probably won't be your friend too. We live in a transaction based world, nothing is unconditional anymore.
