I read somewhere on this site that with long drop you get instantly paralyzed: but this doesn't necessarily mean instant death. Not to mention it requires a very precise height of the anchor point tailored to your body.

For myself, I guess full hanging would be ok: very reliable and just 10-20 seconds of pain seem a fair price.

You need a very strong rope and anchor and 6-8ft to fall. Most people do not have access to these things. Partial or full is more accessible.

I do and have completed rope length calculations. Now figuring out how to summon courage to complete, will some alcohol help or hinder?

Long drop is for executions.
There are calculations to get the length of fall.
It requires a solid setup due to the forces created. (physics)
It really is not a DIY project.
