When regarding to suicide? Like CO poisoning from cars, drugs and other methods?

I sometimes think about how lucky people were in the past if they wanted to ctb regarding to methods, they had so many options and they were lucky enough to use them before they became prohibited, anyone else ever think about this?

When I remember helium as a kid...
I remember a tank being at my house and all of us having a bit of fun to change our voices. I remember my vision going funny and stopping and feeling better. At least this is my memory.
Now as an adult I know how dangerous that moment was. Yet it was fun at the time.

Nowadays, as you say, helium isn't in pure form for balloons. I suppose back in the 90s, it was easier from helium.

True. I heard people could CTB just by using prescription sleeping pills lol. How beautiful is that?????? Probably best ever. Just peacefully sleep on your bed and fade away.

Got mixed feelings about this. True, access to the potentially lethal meds was much easier back then. But mow we got SN - pretty easily available, at least in my part of the world. Yea, they try to ban it due its rising popularity as suicide method but for now we can "enjoy" it without much hassle. As for helium - back then they were using industrial, high purity version. Since they recognized dangers associated with voice changing fun, baloon party sets now contain helium "contaminated" with oxygen. You still can change your voice with it but there's no risk of accidental suffocation. Of course you can try to obtain industrial grade helium but it's not as easy as party set. Then again - you can always go for nitrogen. Due its uses, typically available tanks do not contain oxygen contaminant.

I actually thought about writing barbiturates instead of the car because those two methods are so good, unfortunately they switched out barbiturates with benzos which are basically impossible to ctb with.

Depends on how far back in the past. 1000 years ago there have been not so many options, especially rather peaceful ones.

A lot of things were much better a few decades ago. Wages, the housing market, etc etc etc.

Maybe we're in a lull a few decades before a much better world takes shape. But I'm not exactly hopeful of that, with the climate change all around us and the microplastics in our nuts. But even if things get a million times better in 20 years, what a shit time to have been born, right? I didn't ask to live in a historic time period.
