I just finished a book (The Dispossessed by Ursula K Le Guin), and was wondering if anyone else had favorite authors/books that i might read.

i dont really read that much (im planning to do it more) but the one book i readed around 2-3 years ago for my own enjoyment was No Longer Human (A Shameful Life) by Osamu Dazai
Im pretty pedestrian. I love the classics Tolkien, Lewis, Dickens, poe, Jackson, stoker etc...
I love anything in the Fantasy / Sci-fi genre. Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series was great. Here are some more suggestions:

I have watched all episodes of Legend of the Seeker
they are based on The Sword of Truth

I enjoyed Legend of the Seeker and was bummed when they cancelled the series. I do wish they followed the books a little more closely.
I also was bummed when Terry Goodkind passed. No one seems to know how he died. I wonder if he took his own life.

"From the New World" by Yusuke Kishi. It's a rather tragic story, where you gradually realize just how messed up things are as the story goes on. However, I really like the conclusion that is drawn at the end. The idea that, even in a cruel and twisted world, we can still try to make it a little bit better.

The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a personal favorite. maybe it's because it reminds me of my own current situation. :-)

Because it was Kubrick and Nicholson. I hated it as well. The made for tv movie was better imo and it was closer to the book.I hated that movie never understood why it was so popular

Fyodor Dostoyevsky is my favorite author. I suppose the Brothers Karamazov is probably my favorite book by him, but I don't know if it's my favorite book per se and I actually find it very grating to read. There is just so much truth to his characters - their essences are so poignant and perfectly portrayed despite their whole being perhaps surreal and unrealistic. Kafka is also a favorite, few authors resonate on such a level emotionally for me.
