  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Having a therapy megathread would be a great resource, especially in this subforum since it's called Recovery after all

But the issue is that the procedure can vary based on country. In some places you find a therapist yourself, some other countries you get assigned one and can't really switch easily.

Are you in the USA? If so, do you have insurance? Finding a therapist here could take just a week! It really depends. If you have no insurance and cannot afford cash rates, things will be a lot harder. You can use community clinics but they tend to be very overworked so you can't see your therapist too often, and if you get assigned to someone shitty you can't exactly switch.

There is a way to get a slight indication. You could call for an appointment. The ones that can see you right away may either be new or not have many people interested in a return visit. However, you might miss those who are so good as to quickly help their patients.

Another way to get inside information is to visit the local hospital and ask a nurse who they see as someone to recommend or someone to avoid.

You might also get recommendations by calling a local AA or NA group to see if anyone has therapy experiences.

therapy megathred be very good. some people on this forum never been to a therapist. there are many good and bad therapist but a person might never want to see another if they only see bad therapist.

country specific might help in a megathread
