Method For anyone who plans on using a gun, read this

I don't want anyone to mess up and be in extreme pain or be forced to live as a vegetable so I'm writing this. Make sure the barrel is in your mouth pointing up to the roof of your mouth or even up against it before you pull the trigger. I wouldn't recommend putting the barrel to the side of your head or on the center of your forehead. If you really want to use a handgun, I'd recommend at the bare minimum getting one chambered in 10mm auto, .357 magnum or .44 magnum. If you really insist on using a handgun (I guess because it'd be easier to hide from your family), then a Smith & Wesson Model 500 revolver would probably guarantee your death considering the .500 magnum projectile is rather large and the round is even more powerful than a .308 Win round coming out of a rifle, though the gun is quite expensive. If you're willing to use any type of gun, then a 10 or 12 gauge shotgun loaded with buckshot would probably work best. If you put the barrel up against the roof of your mouth and pull the trigger with that you would almost certainly end up dead with your brain barely intact. I heard some people say hollow point 9x19mm could work, but I don't know. If I end up not using SN then I'll probably go for this method.

brought it up because basically. eric harris shot himself in the mouth - died relatively quick, even if seemingly more blood. dylan klebold shot himself in the head. he did die, obviously BUT... his cause of death was actually that his blood flowed into his lungs and choked him - i'm pretty sure there are witness testiments that say they heard him gargling while dying, maybe for around 30 seconds? so... yeah, in case anyone needed to know why for the first part, that's perhaps a perfect example! shot in the mouth just seems a lot more quick and simple

Lot of people have lived with a shot to the side of the head, not so many through the mouth, because it hits the brain stem which is in control of our drive for breathing

Why shouldn't you do it to the side of your head?

Because you are not hitting any of the primary living parts of the brain. Too much can go wrong. The bullet, if it's full metal, can just go straight through, and make you a living vegetable because the rest of your brain is still intact.

You need to hit the medulla and/or brain stem, the back part of your brain that doesn't even look like that wrinkly blob.

If you're considering this method, learn what the medulla and brain stem are, where they are, and that you need to blow those out to die instantly. That's what you're aiming for, for instant, painless death. But it will be a bloody, gross mess for whoever finds you.

Then understand that you need 9mm or bigger hollow point bullets. If you understand all that, you're good for instant death. I don't think or know if there are megathreads on this. But there should be. Because it seems I've been commenting on stuff like this a lot lately, and I'm not even using this method.

I'm afraid not. But doing it outside of the home is way easier on them as there is no clean up or bad reminder in the residence.

A shot in the mouth from a 12 gauge single barrel shotgun is instant death. I prefer bullets, but I think the largest buckshot is still better, so that only the lower jaw remains of the head. Of course it's better to do this in the forest

A gunshot to the heart with even a few minutes alone will be fatal. Exploding the heart is not something that you're going to recover from at close range with hollow point in a 9mm or higher caliber hand gun, or a 30 caliber or higher rifle.

Yes, shock alone at close range will liquify a brainstem and masses of brain tissue even if people don't get the "exact" spot. A lot of the bullet damage is soft tissue destruction from concussive wave force and pressure.

Your brainstem looks like a flower stalk or a stem of a plant. It's a tube-like structure made of neural (or nervous system) tissue. It's about 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7 centimeters) long.

Might be getting a gun. If I do, I am leaning towards a chest shot. But I also will take a bunch of pain meds and go somewhere hard to get to, harder to find. I can't believe it's this hard to die.

Look, a chest shot can work but you will probably be in more pain and take longer to die.

The way that gives the best chance of quick death is shooting the top of your mouth at a slight angle. Do not shoot straight up, as you will miss the brainstem and hit the frontal lobe. Do not shoot the back of your mouth (perpendicular to the spine) as you will miss the brain entirely.

Shooting is not for me, not least because I do not have access to a gun, but it is very deadly.

Do NOT aim towards the roof of your mouth, aim towards the back of the mouth. That's where the brain stem is located which is what you want to hit. If you aim at the roof of your mouth there is a chance you just blow out your face and the front of your brain and remain a faceless vegetable (it has happened before).

Aiming towards the chest is also a bad idea, as the ribs have a chance of deflecting the shot. With a shotgun, it's less likely, but correctly aiming a shotgun at your chest is quite difficult, and has a big chance of going wrong and not hitting the right parts.

Best gun to use is a shotgun. 12 gauge 00 buckshot ammo.

I would not recommend it, buckshot is the best choice. Birdshot has lower kinetic energy and "stopping power", which is what you want more of.

Use buckshot or a slug instead. If you have nothing else & seriously have no way of procuring the aforementioned shot types, I suppose it's better than nothing, but it's still far from ideal.

This has already been answered. In that location you are not aiming towards the parts of the brain that will guarantee death if damaged/destroyed. You can actually live without some parts of the brain, especially the frontal lobes (eg people who had lobotomies) and these are located at the front of the head, so a shot to the temple or under the chin can render you brain damaged, disfigured, and alive. Look up on youtube videos of survivors of gunshot to the head, there's plenty. It's extremely grim.
