  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I think I have nearly finished my goodbye letters now.

Is it best to write a short "I'm sorry, I love you" or ramble on for pages about why this has happened? And what caused you to CTB?

Why you chose that method etc

I think it would be best, if you want to leave a note, to ramble on. If you just will say I'm sorry, they'll overthink what they could do to prevent your suicide.

Hi MsMaudlin  I think you should express everything weighing in your heart. It would give your family some closure. It's torturous for the family when there are unanswered questions. I'm incredibly sorry you're at this point.

Me personally, i don't think I'll leave a letter. I love them bunches but Id written up so many drafts of letters and i don't think i could decide which one. If i did leave one a "im sorry" would be all that i would write. Ive been conflicted about this for some while. I'm glad you've written letters to yours though ♡

I agree with @Querry1 and @angel-of-the-night.

If you feel you are rambling on for pages, perhaps you just need a bit of an edit, if you want you can go back and review for repetition what main points you made and tighten up the writing.

For me personally, I think about what I would want to hear from someone I cared about who had ctb'd -- that they loved me and why they loved me, that they recognize my pain and care that I'll feel it, the reasons why they did it, and -- I'd never thought about it before but, yes -- why that method.

I had a loved one ctb with no note, it left a lot of confusion and so many unanswered questions. People were left to come up with their own answers, which led folks to speculation and blaming themselves and others for his action.

My opinion. You know the people best. Could they handle a long message which goes into details, or would that cause more pain?

For example. Would this cause guilt in the person not being able to stop you... or they never knew how much pain you are in and this is the first time they are hearing about it?

You know the people and your relationships with them and what would be best for them.

I would go for something in the middle. Long enough to get all the questions answered, but short enough that it's reasonable to read.

I have written several letters for different people. Each explaining why I did what I did, in terms of what is relevant for each of them

I have no immediate plans to ctb, but when I was writing letters in December/January, they varied greatly in length. Some people deserved longer explanations; for others, I merely wanted to express my thanks for all the kindness/support they provided me.
