• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

Nothing much to say, we just need to recover from Brexit and COVID, in the following years we will be better.

I'm not even sure what to grade Japan, as my background and my personal problem/experience makes my opinion extremely biased imo (and I think that's the same with a lot of people on here, especially those who are currently living in developed nation with freedom of speech).

I'm going to use LikeTransit_1's measurement.

Country: Japan
Activities (Parks, Nature, etc.): 8-9…I guess? The reason why this is a question mark is because people abroad (especially countries that have huge pollution problems, both developed nation and developing nation, especially places like China/India) emphasize how there are so many beautiful nature and green here, which I never really thought about it (or cared about tbh) lol. Maybe I never thought of it as quite special considering I lived in Canada for couple years and it's definitely far larger in scale (like wild life, Aurora, …etc.). But there are parks and nature where you can enjoy so if you care about those kind of things, than I guess it's cool.

Culture/Herritage: 8-9. Again, I kind of take it for granted considering I grew up with manga/anime/video games/movies/music/…etc. but if you like those kind of things, than you will likely enjoy it (although you don't really have to live here to enjoy any of the things I mentioned above). My impression is that most of the manga/anime thats popular abroad are from Shonen genre (especially from Shonen Jump), but there are FAAAR more diverse genres than that (especially manga). The fan-made/indie industry is also popular so if you want to get out of the mainstream stuff, there's that as well.

Food: 8-9. Again, I take this for granted since I grew up here, so I don't really think it's that special, but food is mostly good, with reasonably cheap Prince (although those are mostly fast food-esque places). There are variety of local Asian cuisine (from Chinese, Korean, Indian, Vietnamese, Thai, and even Middle East) to American/European food, so it's not just "Japanese food". B-tier gourmet is also popular among people from abroad.
One thing I think Japan does have advantage over other countries is that "public water" is drinkable (in the sense that you don't get sick from drinking it), which wasn't the case in developing countries like China/India/…etc. and even countries like Germany (atleast the place where I went to).

People: 2-3…for me. This is the part where I'm probably biased because of all the negative experiences I had in this country, and my mental illness in general as well. I could never get along with anyone and completely abandoned making any friends during high school, and I haven't gotten a single job because I can't get along with anyone (like literally). My family members have criminal records, and went from rich to poor in a matter of year. So does my opinion actually matter? I'm not sure…?
Outside of bullying (which again isn't necessary a "Japanese only trait" imo), I see a lot of people abroad call Japan "xenophobic" (especially Western media lol), but I think it has more to do with 1. Japan being a homogeneous country, 2. Not being able to have a fluent conversation in Japanese. Like I know people that get legitimately scared when a random foreigner asks something in a language that they don't understand, which is relatable and understandable, at least for me.
But with that said, I'm still giving it a 2-3, since my human relationship went downhill to the point where I have been considering CTB for years now.

Politics: 1. Trash, plain and simple. Like NOBODY gives a crap, and I legit believe that everyone gave up, from youth to the old. There is zero hope for anything for the foreseeable future, which just summarizes the despair and disappointment in this country.

Summary:
Nature, Culture, Food are all great, especially if you care about these type of things.
People are hard to judge because it depends on each person's circumstances imo. Personally, due to bullying and my family failing, I don't have a positive view on human beings in general. I see a lot of people from abroad calling Japan "xenophobic" on internet, but I think that has more to do with being scared of speaking in a different language (which is relatable and understandable imo), than just pure racist bigotry (at least the average people, not some ultra nationalist).
Politics is completely trash, and I think the general public in Japan would agree with this. It's just sad and pathetic.

7/10. I am Brazilian, and i love the fact that it's easy to pirate stuff here and buy SN. I also love the beaches and the weather is very nice. But i hate politcs and the fact that Cristianism is so strong here. Also quite a bit of homophobes here too. But overall i like it in here,

I completely forgot to give the overall grade for my country (and I can't edit my own post for whatever reason lol).

Japan: 5-ish (2-3 when I'm depressed as hell, and 6 when I'm doing fairly ok).
But as I said in my previous post, this grade is heavily based on my own personal experience (which is definitely not normal), and someone who has wanted to CTB for over a decade.

3 - The UK. We haven't collectively hit rock bottom yet but there is a now obvious lack of merit driven progress and we live in a Plutocracy rather than a democracy.

I've got fed up of so many negative attitudes and treatment I can't deal with people any more.

UK: 3.

Has turned into a total nanny state run by populist cretins, and verging on a dictatorship (plutocracy also valid!).
Current PM is non-elected, and worth around £700m. Clearly a man of the people.

Last 10-15 years have seen it go from a country with a few niggling issues into one that's clearly about to collapse.
You only have to wander down the empty, financially ruined high streets in any major town or city to see how bad things have become.
Unfortunately UK citizens that don't travel to other countries assume it's the same in all other developed nations, but it's not.

To finish things off, Brexit turned the country from one that most countries still respected on some level, and into an international joke.

If I had moved away from the UK a few years ago, I would 100% not be in the ctb situation I am in now.

3. I'm forced to suffer. There are better countries. But I'd suffer worse in many other countries.

UK pros
- free healthcare
-benefits if you can't work

Cons
-cost of living
- difficult to get benefits
-free healthcare is poor
-support for mental health is poor
-brexit has fucked things. Now I can't move to Europe. Difficult to travel there at all
-no euthanasia

I'm glad I don't live in India. Africa. China. America. But I wish I was born in Canada. Belgium. Netherlands. Switzerland.

I love where I moved to. NHS in Scotland is great plus free prescriptions and actually nicer people. Plus mental health care is better.
Maybe in Jersey or even Scotland first for euthanasia

Israel: 3/10.
- Endless war, hyper-militarism
- Extremely frequent Islamist terrorist attacks
- Too religious, constant strife between secular Jews, religious Jews and Muslims
- Corrupt politicians, constant strife between the right-wing and the left-wing
- Extremely high cost of living
- Poor public transport
- Bad weather, way too hot in the summer

Germany: 7/10.

The country is really, really peaceful compared to other places on Earth. Europe in general is rather peaceful.

The more stuff I read about the rest of the world the more I am glad to have been born here. I'm poor but that is the only problem in regards to living here.

Some structural and political issues to annoy me of course but nothing serious enough to be unbareable. My country is not the reason why I'm suicidal.

It's different in each country too. As growing up in the UK to parents who are all around poor from financially to emotionally who feed you as cheaply as they can and don't educate on how to care for yourself so you end up harming yourself and putting yourself in harmful positions that's essentially as bad as some living in very poor economic country conditions in my opinion, that feeling of being stuck and when suicide isnt an option. Must be universal.
Life can be horrific we don't realize how good we have it on any level I think right now.

Yeah the unconscious collective... Too much thinking, if everyone just did them...
I'm not doing very well clearly being here so what good is knowing we know nothing but their methods of escapism are awful so I've alienated people, but as Im getting at , wondering if that's what's reflecting.

Brasil. I love the culture of my people, the cuisine and popular music, In this sense it is 10/10.

Buut 0/10 too.

We are a colonized people and our history for a long time was written with a romanticized vision by the invaders, who tried to hide the resistance of indigenous peoples, Africans and precarious immigrant workers. Our politics are influenced by North American imperialism (as well as many others) and any attempt at emancipation, the USA will be present to support coups and persecute those who fight for freedom, thanks to this we live in a plutocracy, where businessmen, powerful landowners and bankers dictate the rules in our country, causing extreme social inequality and highlighting the plutocracy in our country. Poverty and lack of opportunities end up influencing violence and the lack of a great education, here you will find children and young people who will go into drug trafficking just to have something to eat at home, a real waste of futures and brilliant minds that could contribute to society. And best of all: our politics has eugenicist tendencies, they will say that the poor are to blame, but never those who profit from social inequality.

2. The United States and in my observation this country has a lot of issues from the way it's anti pedestrian roads and suburbs are designed to the mass shooting epidemic to the divisive shitty fingerpointing politics and everything just looks and feels SO bland and disgusting here but the nature is nice and very diverse I would say as really the only
PRO but the rest are very much CONS. MOST not ALL of the folks here including myself have gotten to be stupider and more belligerent I mean sure we have always been stupid like not being able to tell where our country is located on a frinking map and ofc with social media now rotting our brains and misinfo running rampant I don't really see much hope at this point but I suppose it's the only issue I mentioned on here that isn't just exclusive to America.

Country - England / U.K
In the past , say 20 or so years ago ... I would have given it an 8 out of 10 overall. Things were good and getting better.
But now I'd give it just a 6.5 out of 10 .Its declined and sadly getting worse in all sorts of ways since then.
Don't think its fixable now. Its a pity.

I'd say the United States is probably a 3. There are things about it that I appreciate, like the people who are actively fighting for change and trying to make things better, but the system itself is so corrupt and exploitative that it's hard to feel any real pride in it. The way it prioritizes profit over people, and how deeply inequality is entrenched, makes it impossible to ignore the harm it causes, both here and globally.
