Help How to understand hanging method?

Hi,
The last time I tried hanging myself was in 2018. I ended up telling my family and was in a psych ward. I want to know more information about the hanging method? In my last attempt, I tried using a belt. The belt ended up breaking. I've tried reading about hanging online on sites like lostallhope and it's very confusing. If anyone responds I'll post a picture of the area where I did my attempt.
