There's many people and the suicidal feeling is gone. What is this? I hiked all the way here. I'm feeling absolutely nothing. Like zen.

This wasn't meant to be. I was meant to want to jump for fuck sales. Do I just come back at night?

I think I'll take a breather and see what choices I have.

I feel so bad for clogging up the forum TT

uh I'll attach some photos. It literally feels like I came to sightsee. God I want to cut myself and I LEFT MY RAZOR BLADES AT HOME I'm going to cry

Wow, I always wanted to go there.
Maybe you never felt like you would get this far so you don't really feel a push to do it like you'd hoped.
Better luck next time...

Don't feel bad at all <3 This forum is for anything related to suicide and you are wanting to attempt but its hard to so it belong here. If you able to wait you can and see about your options for as long as you can so you can make a better decision.

Also is this place hard to get up to? Just wondering as if I were to get more freedom I might decide to jump here myself in the future

Aww thank you <3. This really helps. You're right I can wait if I'm able too and look at my decisions better.

It's a bit of a trek from Eastbourne station but once you make it past the first 30 minutes it's very easy!!

We could go together if I'm still alive or if you're up to it

It is very easy but I know once I leave they'll all come back to me again. I guess I'll enjoy the peace and see what comes next

There's a chaplaincy and there are patrols but so far I haven't run into any and nobody has told me to not go over the rope barrier and I've been walking near the edge for a while (in and out ish).

But there is a rescue boat out right now and a helicopter

Just take your time, settle down and please don't feel any pressure to do something about which you're not totally certain. Thanks for the informative photos, which give a far better idea of the general layout.

they walk around looking like heroes, but what if they went into a vet clinic and took away a suffering dog,
and said "nope! you're not getting that shot to end your suffering. you will keep suffering!"

?

edit: come to think about it... i understand if they do it so that other people there won't be traumatized.
but i hope at least at night time they fuck off

There's a decent amount of posts from SaSu members that went to Beachy Head with some reporting interventions. Someone posted an email exchange with the Chaplaincy Team about their patrol hours in this thread which they vaguely confirmed. From my understanding they are trained to profile potential jumpers. A person is sitting on the edge or wandering around alone is more likely to be engaged than a tourist with a camera or someone in exercise attire.

How exactly do they deter people? If I peer over the edge, will they charge in and tackle me? So I can't even get a good view in.

Any idea who will pay for all this? Will they try to make the jumper pay? Or is it just tax dollars at work?

Also, if you're still alive in the future, I'll join you. I'll bring a picnic basket too if possible.

Great, so to trick them I just need to act happy. Should be just another day for me.

It's council tax and government fund since it's a well known tourist hotspot and nature site (can't recall what it's normally called).

They'll normally approach you to ask what you're doing and remind you to be careful. I was peering over the edge constantly and had a picnic over the rope barrier and nobody said anything especially since others were doing it +I took pictures to look normal.

At this point I think I'll be alive in the future because SI is actually killing me. I'll take your picnic offer

Mastermind!

So is there only water you can jump into or solid ground as well?

The Coastguard are a publicly funded government agency, RNLI (Lifeguards) and Chaplaincy Patrols are voluntary agencies supported by volunteers and donations. IMG 5112

There's solid ground. Rocky rocks. I refuse to jump where there is high tide because survival increase by a lot.

I attached pictures to show where I planned to jump. It's very rocky. Head would crack open or I'd be internally decapitated instantly.

Very nice. That's what I'm talking about.'Cause we can't risk water. I can just imagine being pulled into a boat and then hospitalized, then sent to a mental institution afterwards. Christ. The horror. Are you allowed to drink over there? I'll definitely need to up my alcohol before I peer into the literal abyss.

There's a pub literally like 20 minutes away from the good tall cliff. But I avoided it because they say that they can tell when you're there to kill yourself or else I'd have drunken myself to oblivion already

Of course they do lol.We can't outrun them either when drunk. There's no way they'd allow my tipsy ass to get anywhere near the edge.

In one of the photos (one taken close to the lighthouse, which is presumably at the highest point), there is clearly a single-strand electric fence. It would be easy to crawl under it, but you should be aware that you might encounter it.

Not the rope you're seeing? I didn't see any electric fences. I saw that some parts are double fenced i.e. rope and then metal wire. The tallest point where the coastguards and police were is very busy no way I'd choose to jump from there especially not today

It's impossible to be certain from a photograph, but in the photo I was referring to those look like insulating posts, and the orange-coloured wire looks to me like one kind of wire sometimes used with electric fences (the kind with thin strands of metal wrapped aroung a plastic core). I maintain a long electric fence on my own property, so I do have some experience with them. I might be mistaken, but it's something to bear in mind if you are thinking of going there.
