  • Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

I am 28F. I want to get better and possibly start a new life. My life, for pretty much the past 20 years, has been riddled with intense and extreme anxiety, feelings of insecurity and not belonging which led me to make poor choices. I have a poli sci and philosophy degree that I got after my 2nd attempt at college. I originally wanted to be in diplomacy but suffering bouts of depression and being caught in an open fire amongst other things made me take longer than expected to complete my degree. I got lost in the process and lost any sense of ambition. My degree today is getting me no jobs. I applied for grad school last year to improve my chances of finding work but I got rejected. I am not sure as to what to do to improve my life now. I saw an advert from a well-respected Auditing/accounting company saying that they were looking to sponsor candidates who are interested of being formed in the field with the prospect of getting a job. They even accept people who already have a degree. I want to apply but I'm scared of being rejected for being too old compared to other candidates. I am not particularly interested by accounting, even though I think I could grow to like it and eventually finding it stimulating, but i'm mostly hoping to be able to have a real and good job one day. I want to finally be independent and stop causing my parents to worry so much. Should I take the chance or is it too late to start over at my age?

In my opinion it's better to try and fail then to spend your whole life wondering "what if."

I'd say take the chance. You're not going to be satisfied not doing this by the sounds of it, so you may as well try. If life seems bad enough that you want to end it then making some drastic changes for the sake if maybe getting better might not be a bad idea.

You're definitely not too old to start over. My cousin is in his 40s and just became a lawyer after a career change and 4 years of school.

Go for it! 28 is really young. Also, the rejections from jobs happen to everyone, it's unfortunately something you have to get used to. You just have to keep throwing your resume out there. I don't think they'll care that you're 28 to be honest, they're probably just looking for the best candidate. In fact, I've worked with companies that sometimes prefer people who aren't 22/23 because of maturity issues.

Go for it. Don't surrender. I knew a woman that done her bachelors degree(neurosciences) at the age of 40. She landed with a job in medical research industry (no experience). Obviously she started from the bottom, but she is making her way up.
