This happened a week ago, and I'm finally ready to process what happened. It was so embarrassing, so I have tried to block it out. At first my psychiatrist was worried about me and made an emergency call. The police, ambulance and a doctor hurried up to my apartment and broke up my door. My nextdoor doormates stood outside and were so confused, but they were asked to go into their own rooms again. However, it's not so isolated across the rooms, so I'm pretty sure that they knew what was going on. After they made a quick physical examination and went through my apartment to search for medications and such, I was sent to the hospital for observation. I didn't know I was forced to be there, so I went the next day and headed to the airport to travel home to my mother. I was at the gate and minding my own business. Suddenly 4-5 police officers were right in front of me and told me that I had to come with them. I was so embarrassed. The airport was full of people, and they stared and took pictures. I was calm, looked down and followed them without any fuzz. They told me that I had left the hospital, and that they were worried about me. They wanted me do go with the ambulance so I could get checked up by a doctor. I was still mortified and couldn't really process what had just happened. They said that they found me at the airport because they had tracked my phone and conctacted different bus companies. I was accompanied to the doctor, who then wanted me to be involuntary committed. I stayed there for about a day, and I then left to the airport again and went home to my mother.
My mother, the doctor who released me and, of course, myself thought that the police showing up at the airport was too drastic and unnecessary. The positive think is that I now know how the system works in these situations, and how to avoid it if it would ever happen again.
I just want to write this somewhere. I know that people can make up their own mind about why it was so dramatic, but it's not anything more to the story than what I'm telling. I'm just complety mortified about the dramatic events, and what my doormates now think of me, and what everyone at the airport was thinking when I was led out by several police officers.
