I was thinking about Chris McCandless. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_McCandless And thinking, most people who are idiots end up accidentally getting themselves killed in their teens or 20s. Not saying everyone who accidentally gets himself or herself killed is an idiot, by the way. So I was thinking, idiots go through less suffering compared to more intelligent people. If I was born an idiot, I'd probably be dead right now. I avoided so many dangerous situations in the past, due to not being an idiot...

I don't think he means it in a way that's offensive, but rather how it does seem to be easier for people with lower IQs to go through life. At least, on my part, I do agree with him, but I don't mean to offend anybody. If anything I'm jelly.

I respectfully disagree. Although it sounds pretty cool, I don't think that's true. In order to be a cynic you need to have some degree of intelligence. People with lower IQs often have difficulty lying successfully, recognizing cynicism and sarcasm because they require more thought process.

Yeah, they do, all the time. It doesn't mean they say to every idiot they encounter in real life(or on the internet) and say "Hey, you are an idiot." because that would be irrational and cruel. But when having a discussion about idiots, how can you not call other people idiots... What is the alternative? Not having such a discussion in the first place because I might hurt some people's feelings? Living life, never having the discussions I want to have with people because I might hurt some people's feelings? Yeah, I'm not that altruistic. And calling other people idiots is a symptom of narcissism, seriously? EDIT: Just because my vocabulary is different from yours or I don't share your values, doesn't mean I'm not an intelligent person.

It isn't about "people's feelings". It's about tolerance and respect, none of which you seem to possess. If anything, you come off as quite ignorant, and I would say even aggressive.

It doesn't take a smart man to call people whom he has never met "idiots". It does take a smart man to treat everyone with respect, even those who disagree with you.

What you are saying has nothing to do with intelligence but everything to do with your values like being as altruistic as possible at all times no matter what. So it also has to do with people's feelings. Well I don't share all your values. That doesn't make me ignorant. In fact, according to your own values, you are being a hypocrite because you are aren't showing me any tolerance and respect.

Don't know about anyone here but I think something that didn't really help me is being the proclaimed "genius of the family" haha I was adding 2 digit numbers at a young age so I'm basically Einstein right? My mother kind of pushed this for a really long time, made me feel a certain way, and when I went to college and my brain wasn't quite keeping it up it really fucked with me.

Also I pretty much accept that I'm not really intelligent but how do you define intelligence anyway. Social and emotional intelligence could probably be separated from skill, knowledge and ability based intelligence.

I seem to relish in insulting others whom I deem less intelligent than me, based on what, exactly? This thread? Do you have any other examples? I've also never been hostile and aggressive to anyone in this community until someone in the community has started being hostile and aggressive towards me. And this kind of behavior has only happened in 2 threads(including this one), if I remember correctly. Not once have I been hostile and aggressive to anyone in this community who was friendly to me.

Yeah this is the whole thing about the "everyone is an idiot" mindset. Hyper-sensitivity and arrogant behaviour seem to be part of the attitude of those that hold it.. They can dish it out. But can't take it. Deep down a defensive mechanism for feelings of inadequacy. True misery. I know I hate it. Complete failure is the only way I've become aware of my own past behaviour.
