I'm middle aged too.

I used to hate having no social life but now it doesn't bother me so much.
No one rejected me I just felt like I didn't fit so stopped meeting up with my friends.

Seems society likes to exclude people. Likes to deprive some and lavish excess on others.
The sadistic little shit.
