  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

One thing that always pissed me off is misinformation. I'm a heavily disordered individual and I find often that misinformation plagues the internet and even communities dedicated to "awareness". Like I see so few people talking about how schizophrenia is literally just me living my life, like fuck if I know what's happening to you guys and what isn't. I see so much random bullshit about what the "most common delusions" are and they're just intrusive thoughts, or they're actually really uncommon delusions. I also see people not understanding how a delusion works "it's illogical" NO, it's irrational there's a difference. I could sit here and logically explain to you exactly why people are out to get me, I could tell you why they're doing it in the ways they are, and I can tell you every reason for every thought. I'm not spewing gobblygook just because i'm schizophrenic (sometimes I talk so much the words become pointless but meh) I'm literally just living and processing information as I get it. If anything the crazy ones are the ones calling me crazy. And don't even get me started on the stigma about schizo-spectrum people being serial killers or some shit.

So what about ya'll? What's some misinformation you see a lot about your disorders that pisses you off?

People thinking that bipolar disorder means having mood swings or bipolar people are violent and manipulative. Also some people think that bipolar people always have psychosis.

This is a very small one but still annoys me, like 9/10 times I tell someone I am colorblind they think I am seeing in black and white which I don´t I see most colors it´s the nuances that are hard to see for me, I usually explain it like the A4 colored papers we used back in school I can see all the standard colors it´s when they change from lighter to darker.

I know how small this problem is and of all my problems this is the smallest one but still annoying and have given me problems a lot in life but to think many people are completely healthy they don´t suffer from mental illnesses or physical illnesses not even colorblindness it feels as if I have gotten a check mark on everything bad.

"I'm so OCD, I need to line up my pens!!"
Oh really? I'm so OCD every time I pick up a kitchen knife I'm terrified that I'll lose control of myself and kill my family. We're SO alike! 😊

I once told someone I wa quite close with that I was bipolar and they later informed me they know longer felt comfortable with me in the car with them anymore in case I pulled the steering wheel to kill us both because "well, you're bipolar".

There are people who literally still believe that mental illness is caused by demons: does that count?

Some even say mental illness doesn't exist and it's demons all the way down.

For the record, my kind are uninterested in human minds and exclusively possess house cats.

When mental illnesses are tiktokifed and boiled down to very simple terms, which can be helpful in some areas I guess, but I feel like it makes it easier to confuse and spread misinformation about them. Once me and a group were talking about bipolar and someone said it was just mood swings, and another girl was like "My dad has that!!" Weirdly excited too.

This EXACTLY TikTok has ruined mental health in my opinion.

Bpd people are manipulative and violent.
People dont have bpd just attention seeking.

Welp yeah I've had these too when I was first diagnosed but I've slowly trying to let those go.

I get this, being diagnosed with NPD (though maybe not? Psychiatrists are weird) made a lot of people view me as a monster simply for existing. Especially when I did learn to dismantle some of my manipulative behavior, which I hadn't even realized was manipulative. If you make me wanna die i'll tell you, fuck me if that's over dinner but I guess you fucked up in my mind. Obviously it's still wrong, I just feel like there's no grace for people who have learned one and only one way to exist our entire lives. We go through hell, just to be called monsters for being deformed by fire, as if nobody expected it. And then when we react as though they are dehumanizing us and we revert to our basic hardwired defenses they point it out as some "evidence" of our evil.
You wouldn't call a war veteran with PTSD from being shot crazy for not liking that you shot a gun at them would you? So why call those of us with disorders, especially personality disorders, evil when you have triggered us. It's a two way reactive street and recovery from a PD has a whole lot to do with our environment and the people around us deciding to let certain things go and focus on helping us instead. (For example when my family learned to no longer scream at me for calling myself a perfect being and instead learned a to challenge my insecurities and not my delusions)
