I'm trying to decide which gun I can buy that wouldn't kick back hard. I'm concerned that it will come out of my mouth and shoot off my face. God, I hate talking about this stuff. I want to aim for my brain stem. I assume the bullets would be hollow point?

Yeah I need answers to this too. Currently just searching "revolvers with least kickback" in Google

You wont feel any kickback if you hold the gun tightly to your head. I'm an above the ear guy myself.

Kickback doesnt affect accuracy of the shot

Look at very slow motion videos

I want the most powerful gun

you want a gun that's powerful enough to work. i understand the smaller revolvers like the 38 special don't do the trick. i'm not sure about that though. i thought i could just call around to random gun shops, say I'm writing a novel and want to know the best gun. it's all so morbid. i hate talking about this stuff. just wish i could sleep.

Exactly this^

By the time kickback occurs, the bullet, shotgun pellets, etc are already at their target. The real problem people have is when squeezing the trigger and inadvertently moving the gun off target. It's easier to hold target in mouth. Side of the head, not so much.

The flinch or the wince from the shot. You have to try and not anticipate the shot.

I have no issues like that. Movement occurs from the resistance force of the trigger pull (for many people) which, in turn, causes muscles in the forearm and hand to contract and *can* inadvertently move the muzzle of the gun away from desired target. I mean we're talking fractions of a second here from when the primer is struck to when the projectile(s) exit the muzzle. If a flinch occurs after the gun fires, it won't make one bit of difference since the round has already been delivered.

I'm no gun expert, but I don't consider .38 snub nose revolver a small caliber. I've fired them into trees at very close range and had to dig the deformed bullets out with a claw hammer.

I found that information deep in a gun forum somewhere. If I do this, I want to do it right the first time. Concerned the kick back will shoot off my face and not go through my skull. Some research says intra-oral method is best but only if it hits the brain stem. Other research says most completed suicides are via the temple. I don't want to do this at all. But, damn, it better work if I do.

The temple is not the best place. In fact it is not a very good place at all. Intraoral and right behind the ear are the best in that order.

I've looked at gruesome photos of intra-oral. Good God, the last thing I want to do is traumatize the person finding me. I would put a couple pillows over my head to at least prepare them. I wish I could do the helium method. But the directions are too difficult for me to follow and it's hard to find nearly pure helium.

Well, wait a minute now. That's an entirely different concern you've brought up now from the "flinching" concern. It is a legit concern if it concerns you. It's probably not going to be a "pretty" sight for whomever finds you. Maybe it can be set up so law enforcement finds you? Pure helium is hard(er) to find now, but nitrogen works the same way. So, does argon.

I thought if it were to the side of the head, the other side of the head would be blown out but my face might look "normal". Yes, I'd like law enforcement to find me. If my husband has to identify my body, I do NOT want him to see an effed up face. I know the mouth is an easier method in terms of hitting the target, but I guess it's out of the question if it mars my mouth. I thought Nitrogen wasn't a good way to go. I've lost track of all that I've read. Again, if I could just sleep like a normal person, all of this suicidal ideation would vanish. But, that ain't happening.

Best chance of your face not be totally messed up would be right behind or above the ear.

The temple is not a good choice. Some kid tried that near where I live and he survived….totally blind now.
An interesting part of the article:
Like, sometimes, I would have to get up and call CoVantage Credit Union just so I could hear somebody's voice.''

Yes, a random call to a stranger at his credit union got him through the day.

"Dude, yeah. I would call them and say, 'Can I switch some money around' and do this and that, and I'd be good after that,'' he said. "I've been so much better lately since I've been getting used to it, but it got to that point where you get that desperate and call CoVantage.''

Maybe. Maybe not. I'd say "not" is the likely scenario with a handgun. That's quite a bit of bone and tissue to go through from the side of the head. I just don't trust the outcome this way.
