Dead Confederate. A real shame they split and that much of their music will not get broad recognition, because albums like Wrecking Ball have some of the best post grunge tunes I've ever heard. I always read "It Was A Rose" as an acceptance of a bleak fate, but there's a lot to take from most of their music that you may hear differently. And get a taste of that guitar.

Loved them for a long time, only found out a few years ago that they were local to me

I think it's neat how it sounds really different, but the melodies and rhythms it's based around are all there in the Talking Heads version, just sort of in the background. I love when a cover can be its own thing but also make me appreciate the original more.

Unto Others actually did this track under their previous band name Idle Hands I believe. Calling back to old metal and hard rock traditions, even some new wave, Unto Others is one of the most consistently themed metal bands out there. I thought their song "Suicide Today" might have been too on-the-nose but it is a very meaningful song to me as well.
