I've noticed that the SN sold through food preservation is pink and marketed as a curing salt. The composition I found is "Salt, Sodium Nitrite (6.25%), Propylene Glycol and Sodium Bicarbonate added as a processing aid, Red 3."

So this looks like mostly salt with only 6.25% SN. I take it that this is unviable or offers unpredictable results?

Yeah, you want a much higher purity.... preferably in the range of 90-something percent
