Dutch. Rarely do I listen to Dutch music. This one came to mind though. Video has English subtitles.

German isn't my native langugae, but my second one, and my favorite song in German is "Griechischer Wein" by Udo Jürgens. It brings me so many memories of my time in Germany, which isn't my homeland. The song talks about Heimweh and homesickness, so hearing it always makes me very melancholic, happy, nostalgic and sad at the same time.

Maybe not my favorite of all time from him but here's kind of antinatalist's anthem brought to you by Juhani "Juice" Leskinen, the witful lyricist/musician from Finland. Here is a rough translation I tried to form. I used DeepL translator for some reference. Hopefully it conveys even some justice for the original text of the song. All the quoted parts are for the background choir's singing and without is Juice himself singing.

Original text below:

Hänet synnytettiin

"Hänet synnytettiin" kysymättä ensinkään,

"hänet synnytettiin" kuinka hän ryhtyy pärjäämään.

"Hänet synnytettiin" ehkäpä ihan piruuttaan, eikä hän koskaan pyytänyt päästä maailmaan.

"Hänet synnytettiin" lapsitarhan kalustoon,

"hänet synnytettiin" asteille ja lukioon,

"hänet synnytettiin" riparille, armeijaan, eikä hän koskaan pyytänyt päästä maailmaan.

"Siunatkoon",

"siunatkoon",

"siunatkoon".

"Uu-uuu-uuu".

"Siunatkoon",

"siunatkoon",

"siunatkoon".

"Uu-uuu-uuu".

"Hänet synnytettiin" horjahtamaan, kaatumaan,

"hänet synnytettiin" kompuroimaan tolpiltaan,

"hänet synnytettiin" riistämään henki itseltään, ainut minkä hän pystyi itse päättämään.

Kuinka paljoon ihminen sentään pystyykään.

"Siunatkoon."

My rough translation:

He/she was given birth

"He/she was given birth" without even asking first.

"He/she was given birth"
how he/she's gonna make it through/get on with it?

"He/she was given birth" perhaps just for the hell of/ spite of it although he/she never asked to be brought into this world!

"He/she was given birth"
into the stock of kindergarten/nursery.

"He/she was given birth"
to the grades and high school.

"He/she was given birth."
to the confirmation school and army although he/she never asked to be brought into this world!

"May he/she bless!"

"May he/she bless!"

"May he/she bless!"

"Oo-oo-oo-oo!"

"He/she was given birth"
to the right target groups.

"He/she was given birth"
to become a spectator of telly.

"He/she was given birth."
to the great career path, although he/she never asked to be brought into this world!

"He/she was given birth"
to the facilities of healthcare.

"He/she was given birth"
to the issues of outpatient care system.

"He/she was given birth"
to thinking/wondering miserable, although he/she was never asked to be born in the first place!

"May he/she bless!"

"May he/she bless!"

"May he/she bless!"

"Oo-oo-oo-oo"

"He/she was given birth"
to sway and fall down.

"He/she was given birth"
to stumble and get him/herself straight.

"He/she was given birth"
to take out his/her life, the only thing that he/she could ever decide upon him/herself.

(Ironically) Well, how lot is a man capable of.

"May he/she bless!"

Heard this song for the first time at the carnival parade today. Not sure I'll like it for long though :-)
