• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

(Also, where did you even get the "Asians more symmetrical faces" claim from, lol)
Personal observation.

Most studies making the claim that race and IQ are correlated are usually not peer-reviewed and aren't really taken seriously or are even discussed by the vast majority of psychologists. Using the claim "I didn't say they have a higher IQ due to genetics" feels more like you are just trying to avoid having to even reflect on the bs you are spewing.

Like I said, I'm certainly not going to try and prove you wrong. You use the phrase AFAB. . . trying to have a discussion does not seem like a good use of my time. I was not aware that there was no correlation at all between IQ and race. Should've taken first year psychology.

Getting more philosophical about suicide also has nothing to do with race.
I didn't say it did. I said IQ might.

What's the point of even mentioning what is an empty claim you made up? Most people who are on this site never came on here because they were contemplating suicide from a philosophical position. Where did you even get this from?

It's a thread that asked a question and I gave my thoughts on it. Again I say, "Jesus Christ." You can disagree without biting my head off and calling me racist. This was not a thread asking for a detailed debate.

I sincerely hope you have a good day. Tone doesn't come through text well, but I want you to know I do mean that sincerely. I'm clearly not making any friends in here today.

Lol, so your rebuttal is to use anecdotal evidence for something that claim as though it is a fact, attempt to invalidate my point just because I used the term afab as though somehow that means anything, somehow ignored the fact that you mentioned IQ in reference to race so you would have still been making a point about race, and then proceeded to whine about how this thread isn't about asking for a detailed debate (you are on a forum. Forums are for discussions. Discussions sometimes leads to conversations like this. That's a part of how forums and just any part of internet where people socialize works).

You can't just say a bunch of shit like that and expect to "make friends".

It's a forum for suicidal people. I personally try to be as patient as possible for that reason. Sure, things can get combative, but I personally recommend holding the "bullshit racist sexist" language for the second post of the exchange, lol.

Thanks, though, for helping me practice patience, not taking bait, and choosing my battles.

Why does Asian American discourse always seem to lead to non-Asian people arguing with each other?

Western media and society constantly reinforces the concept of white supremacy, that whites are superior to other races. It has fucked up consequences on Asians and other POC.

I wasn't going to touch this, and I'm certainly not going to try and convince someone who thinks race and femininity are "social constructs" that they're wrong about anything, but I'll point out a few non-confrontational things.
@EvisceratedJester is right though. "Race" was pseudoscientific folk theories — the bro science of the time — popularized by certain elites. Who had the problem of convincing Europeans to accept chattel slavery. Many Europeans were against slavery, because their previous generations went through it

Biologists don't go around learning race theory. It's just weirdo political cult logic; Ben Franklin claimed that Germans & Swedes were too "swarthy" to be white

Race's grounding in biological reality is a joke. When the US government or Nazis (who institutionalized racial policies) face the practical problem of classifying people into races, messy reality forces them to make goofy rules about blood quantums & such

Regarding femininity... well I currently suspect it's more precise to call it a psychological construct. And psychology is rooted in both biology & the social

I'm mixed with all sorts of Asian ethnicities, filipino, Korean, Indonesian, Chinese, and Japanese. I feel like the media only cares about White or Black people (Do not call me racist for this or you're immature and need to actually look up what being racist is.) Its either "BLM!!!" or "White people are superior and we have more rights blah blah blah" and lets be honest, they kind of do have more rights. Even if countries say that we all have equal rights its always the White people who get treated superior. In my opinion I think that I don't belong here and I'm not like all of the others. People will make fun of you, for your eyes, nose, mouth, skin, anything. And you can't really escape it. It comes to a point where it affects your mental health and that's just the way you think about yourself after a certain period of time. This one time I really wished I was born white just for the sake of me to stop getting shamed/bullied. There really is no answer to this besides we're minorities and a lot of people actually don't know how to treat all races equal without calling them weird, criminals, slurs, or other names. (if theres typos im sorry but im too lazy to fix them)

It's a real shame these stereotypes exist. Changing them when it's so ingrained into society is undoubtedly hardest part

Race's grounding in biological reality is a joke.
People all over the world train in track and field for the Olympics, giving us an excellent statistical sample of people controlling for background, upbringing, access to resources, etc. I look up fastest 100m dash times and I'm going to go through at least half a dozen black people before I get even one of another race. Forgive me if my takeaway is that black people tend to be a little better at running due to "biological reality."

Personally, i think it's nice that different peoples developed varying traits. We're the same for the most part, but looking at averages and outliers those differences helped give different cultures flavor.

But since I really don't find this debate interesting (because whether races are different because of - ya know - race, or because of the system and the man and politicians, it doesn't really matter in discussions like the original topic of this thread) I'll concede that I'm wrong, race is not a real thing. We're all exactly the same. I just don't understand and any perceived differences are caused by socioeconomic factors and evil powerful people.

I dunno if we're debating. We're just talkin', killing time, thinking. I believe race is real on the social level of reality. You believe it's real on the biological level. (And maybe on the social level too?) Cool

Well, I have an interest in body performance, ever since I trained at a great gym. Where the trainers extracted top performance — even to the point of neural conditioning

irc BJJ coach John Danaher points out that when you find great performers, there's a great culture, training infrastructure, and ability to attract/select/compensate top performers

This is why science is nice: the ability to be confused by "common sense". And rationality: why do we think we know what we know?

For example, why does west Africa has many good sprinters — associated with fast-twitch muscle fibers... yet east Africa has many good endurance runners — associated with slow-twitch muscle fibers? Scientists don't classify things into categories like "black". They look at mechanisms. Like genetics, training, altitude, limb proportions, etc. Far less confusing than "black"

The only "scientists" who find concepts like race useful are social scientists

And tbh, the real concern of racialists is intelligence — not how fast your body runs

You might be. Sorry if my tone was a little confrontational but the guy you came in to agree with was directly calling me racist and calling me some kind of pervert with an Asian fetish, so I hope you'll understand if I just want to leave this thread behind and not get into any weeds.

I'm not here to discuss racial differences as a scientist. Just from a practical, observable standpoint. To me, the initial prompt was to speculate on potential traits Asians may have - for whatever reason - that would lead to OPs perceived behavior, not to explain why they have those traits or do a genetic analysis. So, if the traits are entirely due to socioeconomic factors or entirely due to genetics, it doesn't change anything.

And tbh, the real concern of racialists is intelligence — not how fast your body runs

People are more sensitive about intelligence, yes. But there are either different developments between different peoples or there aren't, and it's unlikely that we have one group that's going to generally run faster but everyone is exactly the same intelligence with no differences based on genetics. And it's okay if Asians are on average more intelligent. It's not a big enough of a difference to make any assumptions on an individual level. And other traits may balance it out: maybe having smarts in a way other than how we measure IQ.

this is probably my eurocentrism, but to my mind the only asians who produced anything culturally comparable to, say, the Germans were the Japanese. i am particularly indifferent to my own ancestry, the asian component hailing from a region of south-east asia not known for producing great men, which is of course dependent on the particular historical conditions involved in that process

I don't want to socialize or be a part of society though. I want to ctb to escape having to participate in society. The reason why I'm suicidal is because my mom is pressuring me to get a job, and I don't want to. If I *had* to work, I'd want to be self-employed. I don't want to have to answer to anyone, especially a boss. I don't want anyone telling me what to do. I want freedom. I would be an entrepreneur, but unfortunately, I don't have any ideas
If you want freedom, you don't want to be an entrepeneur, you really don't. Being self employed is a TON more stressful than having a regular job. You rely on yourself for everything, your income isn't guaranteed nor is it stable, you don't have proper holiday, if you get sick then the money plummets - you don't want to be self employed unless you really enjoy working.

It is a huge misconception that being self employed is all so good, it's not, it's very hard work. I've done that for years and being an employee is a breeze in comparison.

The only people that say being self employed is great and you make a ton of money and bla bla, are the scammers selling stupid courses.
