I want to believe that's she's just being protective and this is her way of showing she cares, but I feel like I'm being bullied into getting this testing done. Without having a car, I would have to Uber to a testing site, wait there, submit payment to the government program for the uninsured, hope everything is covered, and then uber home. I could walk to a pharmacy however it is fucking 90+ degrees where I live and I'm extremely anxious walking around by myself for safety reasons. So I have to go through all of this shit, spend at least $20 on transportation, even though I have no symptoms, even though the person that notified me that they felt off is now feeling fine, all so she can feel better about herself I guess. She texted me really early this morning, asking me if I'd made the appointment yet. I haven't responded because I just feel like it's wrong to impose this much on someone else's healthcare choices. It would be one thing if the other party tested positive (since they felt fine they didn't bother with testing -job didn't require it either) or if I started not feeling well. I'm upset, I don't want to lie to her, but she's gotten extremely serious about it and it doesn't sound like she will accept no as an answer. Sucks, she's my only friend.

I'm late, so I don't know if anything's changed, but no matter what, she can't make you do that. It's perfectly okay to set boundaries. You don't have to lie, just be straight with her. It isn't fair for her to pressure you to go out of your way for that. It's like you said, if you started to feel ill, that's one thing. Don't put up with that shit. It's not her life, it's yours. If she wants to stand off for a week or two to feel better about it, that's up to her.

This could be an unpopular opinion, because people seem to be so serious about this shit, but this is how I feel about it.

1) last I heard for as long as you aren't showing symptoms a test won't prove anything

2) I think a more important part is how long ago you hung out with the infected person. If it's over 2 weeks ago then yeah you're probably fine and your friend is over reacting (not that it matters much considering at the very least people should be social distancing, so unless your friend plans on getting all in your face I don't even see a problem)

Yeah I feel like the test doesn't really serve much of a point when I'm not working at the moment and I'm basically quarantined anyways. I was anxious that she would be really upset if I told her I didn't plan on getting one, so I avoided responding as long as I could. I said something to her last night and she seemed to back down, but then I didn't hear from her at all today which kind of makes me nervous.

The person that notified me is back at work and feels fine, never even got a test done, and it's been over a week since I was in contact with them. I didn't know that about the tests not showing anything for people that are asymptomatic though... even more of a reason not to bother. I think she was more worried about me getting sick than about catching it from me; we don't get to hang out that much.

I understand the sentiment however a test isn't going to help or prevent anything.

Precisely my opinion about it lol. Like, if I feel fucked up, I'll go to the hospital (or purposefully not go to the hospital while crossing my fingers, hoping for a quick death) but other than that, there isn't much else to do. I understand needing a test to get cleared to go back to work or something like that, but if you don't go anywhere- no point!

Yeah, if you're going to be in a situation where you're putting others at risk then exactly, but if you're staying home anyway for whatever reason and its already been a little over a week I'd say wait it out another full week to make sure then you should be fine
