Most places sell you 10-meter lengths of rope, which will be more than enough (then you can cut it to your liking). Choose synthetic materials, they are strong, such as polyester or polypropylene. Check the breaking load information on the label. Make sure the rope is braided and static (without elasticity).
Mine is 12mm thick and I was able to close the door by giving it a good push.
