  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I'll just paste them here.

"My initial thought was Robin Williams, but then I remembered he was no longer with us by his own choice. I don't feel like bringing someone back who doesn't want to be here would be a good idea for anyone involved." then it carries on "On that note, I will say Steve Irwin. The man was still young enough to have quite a life ahead of him and he was invaluable to the conversation and conservation of a lot of endangered and at risk animals." - I think this was the top comment too, with 52 replies.

although the top reply to that is mad that he said it was his own choice and talking about the things he was suffering. I get what they're both saying but they don't really understand that it -should- be considered a choice. Not every condition is curable, and a lot of people (like me I guess) get let down and don't get any help either.

Some other replies to main topic.
"I was going to say Robin… one of a very small handful of celebrities that I truly mourned… but I'm not sure he'd thank me for it."

"It's between Robin Williams and Stan Lee but then I remember that Robin chose to leave not Stan, so then I would choose Stan for selfish reasons."

Just thought I'd share. Everything is shit for me right now, I really wish it wasn't because it makes me feel useless on top of everything I'm going through.

Why the fuck would they want Stan Lee back? He hadn't done anything useful since like 1970, and how useful he even was is highly debated.

I know that is not supposed to be the takeaway here, but it irks me.

Yeah though, it's nice they don't want to reanimate Robin Williams and force him to kill himself again.

It is good to see that people are open to acknowledging Robin Williams' situation without judgement. There's something uniquely tragic about someone dedicating his life to bringing laughter and entertainment to the whole world whilst hiding a heavy burden of personal grief that will ultimately consume him.

For those of us who are non-celebrities or have fallen far short of our worldly potential, we can only hope that if the whole truth of our invisible struggles were known, we would be given a similar degree of compassion and respect. In effect, this massive validation gap is why this website has found such a niche.

Sorry to hear things have been so rough for you. Please sing out if there's anything we can help with.

That's so refreshing to hear about. I wish more people actually had a wholesome view towards the right to die. It makes me feel crazy that so few people are pro-choice outside of here.

That's good to hear, the first comment is being both compassionate and seeing things rationally. It would be extreme cruelty to wish someone back here just so they can suffer from what caused them to ctb in the first place.
