  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Hi everyone, just wanted to share some articles/information that I found interesting and helpful.

Article 1: Suicidal sodium nitrite intoxication: a case report focusing on the postmortem findings and toxicological analyses - review of the literature. 30 May 2023.

"Exposure to SN may cause hypotension and arrhythmias. The clinical effects are reported a few minutes following ingestion and peak at 30-60 min after ingestion." Table 1 lists clinical effects such as cyanosis, confusion, dizziness, syncope, chest pain, palpitations, headache, fatigue, tachypnea (rapid breathing), dysrhythmias (irregular heartbeat), seizure, coma, and death.

Case report of an 18-year-old female with SN from a Polish website. She died. 63g of the 100g bag was left, meaning she may have ingested 37g of SN.

"The review of the literature confirms the high fatality rate with a reported fatal outcome in 73.8% of the cases where sodium nitrite was ingested with suicidal intentions."

Appendix A and B includes many cases from literature with fatal and non-fatal outcomes. Includes sex, age, circumstances, external and autopsy findings.

Article 2: An autopsy case of sodium nitrite-induced methemoglobinemia with various post-mortem analyses. 6 April 2021.

28-year-old man from South Korea, posted on social media that he ingested 84g of SN. Post was at 13:45, time of death was determined to be approximately 15:00. "The victim had posted on social media that the taste of the mixture was similar to that of salty water but not the same. After posting, the victim went to sleep. It was determined that he died about 1 h after ingestion and posting."
