Just a heads up really and wondering if anyone else has had a police visit. I just had the police at my door questioning me over an SN purchase I made on eBay 10 months ago. The policeman told me the seller is being investigated over 17 deaths from SN he sold. The police have 147 names of buyers and are checking up on them, seizing the SN if it's in the house.
Omgggg I just posted a thread about this!!!! They came to my door on Monday evening!

Dear law enforcement and law makers: if you ban SN, you'll have a spike in other suicide methods which are probably far more violent and gruesome, such as jumping, hanging, train, guns, etc - you name it. Congrats, you just made society a worse place.

If you really wanted to decrease suicide, you'd fucking change this nightmare of a world into an actually decent place. Fuck them.

Yes I think everyone who bought off UK e-bay are getting visits, I'm sure they made him turn over his address book, I had mine this morning at 3.30 AM I said would it have killed you to come in the afternoon, lol.

But they left empty handed.

Cheers

This is so awful and stressful that I feel I'm going to throw up. I've never ordered SN, but the stress of being under a welfare check and dealing with police is familiar to me. This will have bad consequences for us folk in the UK trying to die with peace and dignity. I'm so sorry to anyone who had to deal with this, I would be so terrified.

Why the bloody hell did they come at 3.30am?!! Another member said they confirmed they would inform their GP did they say anything like that to you? I'm thinking of so many questions I wish I'd asked now. Like does a record of this get kept by the police?

No I just woke up and they said it was a welfare visit I just looked confused and said I don't understand I'm fine and said who reported me and they wouldn't answer they never mentioned nothing about a GP, after 15 minutes they left, they never asked to come in or if I have SN but they would have needed a search warrant but it was fine, the seller had hundreds of customers so I think they were being careful not to judge. Mind you I probably looked like a fragile jumping out of bed that time.

Cheers

This is so awful. Why are the police in this country harassing desperate people who want to end their lives peacefully? All this will do is lead to a rise in people using methods that will cause more suffering such as overdosing on paracetamol.

I've been desperately hoping to get a hold of some SN over here and now the prospect just seems even bleaker I wish I'd heard of this method earlier. :(

That's why I mostly tell my friends to not buy stolen goods from Ebay, even if they cannot afford buying them legally :P
Ebay stores your IP, Address data and few other less important information and that's how most people get busted and arrested for buying stolen goods..
The same goes for other purchases from Ebay.

I had a visit on Saturday morning... they were looking for me all night as I wasn't at the place of my residence! I'm in Belgium. I think they did the whole of EU in one night/go! They told me they were informed by international police so I guess they will be checking on everyone on M* list!

I'm 99.9% sure this is dodgy police behaviour.
This is from phillip nitschke wikipedia page about police raiding and harassing people and confiscating their ''products'' it was found to be illegal and police had to return items

Operation Painter

In October 2016 New Zealand police, in a "sting" operation code named "Operation Painter", set up roadblocks (checkpoints) outside an Exit International meeting and took down names and addresses of all attendees.[58] Some of the elderly members of the group were later visited at their homes by police with warrants, and searches were conducted. Computers, tablets, cameras, letters and books were seized.[59] Nitschke said police actions were unprecedented and probably in breach of the Bill of Rights, which guaranteed freedom of association. The police operation was the subject of an Independent Police Conduct Authority investigation.[58] Legal action against the police followed.[60] In March 2018, the Independent Police Conduct Authority found Operation Painter to be illegal.[61]

This coincided with another action by New Zealand police in which 76-year old Patsy McGrath, a member of Nitschke's Exit group, had her home raided in 2016 and her store-bought helium balloon cylinder confiscated under warrant.[62] The confiscation of the cylinder was later found to be illegal and it was returned to her in 2018.[61]

I used to sell drugs in the mail.
To avoid a potential controlled delivery I always sent with no return address to a fake name or better still, the name of a previous resident.
When it arrives, don't open it for at least 24hrs. Then if the police come, you can just say it's not for me and I'm taking it back to the post office

They're just using scare tactics. They can't even force people to give it to them and are instead relying on them panicking.

True, I said it wasn't in my house. Most they can do is a welness check. I had to laugh with the whole situation and they walked away empty-handed. I think they also check if you have had previous suicide attempts (which I had) and make those people a priority. I didn't mind the visit it just felt pointless but I assume it must be anxiety-inducing for people that don't live alone and are not so open about their suicidal tendencies.

Edit: I was just warning that they were doing whole of EU and not only buyers in UK.

That's true.. However I for one DID panic when out of the blue there was this big policeman standing in my house asking about Sodium Nitrite in front of my husband. Complete bombshell.
And most people on that list are vulnerable, depressed people with mental health issues so probably likely to panic/ crumble and do whatever they ask.
I didn't even know how they knew I'd ordered it or anything it was very scary.
I feel like any of you guys who told them to fuck off or something are way stronger than me X

Well I knew what I did was not a crime and I've had so many police interventions this year that I just didn't care. Also they were rather friendly to me even though I wasn't taking it seriously. I was mostly surprised that they mentioned that it was an international thing and connected to this website... even though I ordered on Ebay without knowing that everyone was using thesame seller. I just thought it was my psychologist or psychiatrist that gave me up... untill I checked SS and noticed that I wasn't the only one that had a visit.

I'd have said that I'd binned it a long time ago and would hide anything illegal if you've not yet had your door knock. If they ask about it, say you binned it after not using it for any reason. Wouldn't even bring up suicide.
Ridiculous behaviour by the LE.

Although, this is another reason why I think that if you ever sell anything, don't do it through eBay, and never keep a record of addresses/names/numbers.
If you live with anyone likely to be suspicious, my hopes are with you for all to be okay. Thankfully this is from a long time ago now, and you have good deniability.
Also, if you're extra paranoid, leave your SN in the bushes in your back yard or your shed.
It shouldn't be so much safer to buy addictive life-ruining drugs, but who am I to argue with the law.

It's not just eBay sales either. I'd purchased some SN back in February from a different website and the police are aware of that transaction.

My anxiety has been absolutely awful since their 'welfare visit'.

Just seems to be more virtue-signalling from pro-lifers who don't really care about addressing the actual causes, or understanding the anguish that people go through.

Has anybody read the coroner's report? It looks to me as if they're calling for websites like SS to be closed down.

Does anybody think they might actually be able to do it?

Yes I saw this.. one of the deaths that prompted the investigation I guess.
I posted the following further back in this thread. Letter from Ebay UK director to a coroner about SN suicide.
