I was therefore asking myself how to discard any extra to avoid pollution and bio hazard. Turning it back to the pharmacy or any store looks like a no-no to keep down the attention. Would flushing it down the toilet be the okay clean practice ?

The proper way is to see if your work has proper chemical disposal instructions. In the case your work does not, you should be able to dump NaNO2 down the drain when it has been dissolved with water. As long as you're not dumping it in a drinking water supply, you should be okay. An explanation for this is because once it has been oxidized and dissolved with water, it'll turn into nitrate and that's already something that exists in our ecosystem.

How much you are dumping is what matters. If you have tons of it, I would not recommend disposing it down the drain. Instead I'd look at properly disposing it. If it's a couple grams you'll be okay.

I agree, @Quarky00 is the MVP of this forum Everything in one place, easy to access, structured. The SN megathread is a giant mess where people ask the same questions over and over again because of 200+ pages and it's incredibly hard to remember the information needed.

I feel like an ass for even pointing it out. In my research I'm stumbling on possible failures and successes that aren't listed and their names are still active. So If you are keeping track at all for future updates

Hey everyone. I got SN sealed but i noticed it clumped as it has no caking agents in it. Can I grind the amount I need and use it like that? The listing I got no longer sells it and I am worried about buying it again. Plus sealed how long should it last? I purchased it in 2019 and it's sealed. Thanks.
