Sodium Nitrite in cold fish made me nauseous

Ok, I am a wimp and nitrites make me extremely nauseous. I got a bad smoked salmon with sodium nitrite to preserve it. It was gross and full of tiny fish bones. I was getting them on my tongue and the fish was too salty and yuck tasting and the preservative made me want to puke, just from a salty fish snack. How could I ever ingest much nitrites? I also have an allergic reaction to too many glasses of wine. I'm almost certain I'd have a problem keeping down SN. Is anyone else concerned about this for themselves also? Should I take extra anti-vomiting precautions if I ever ctb? (Just was noticing I seem to be having a reaction to even small amounts of it as a curing salt- and it wasn't just because the cut of fish was too bony, the SN was disgusting in it and tasted like crap!)

Nobody keeps SN down. You said "bad salmon". How do you know if it wasn't just the bad salmon that made you nauseous?
