  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I decided to spend some time to analyze the success rate of SN based off Vizzy's list of Successful vs. Unsuccessful cases as can be seen here:

https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/sn-successful-and-unsuccessful-cases-2023-update.120854/

Here are things to consider:

- I tried to used empirical evidence only, meaning only those that indicate the amount of sn consumed as well as any conversions which can indicate grams consumed (like usage of teaspoons) were used. Capsules were excluded as they can be non-direct

- This strictly look at the grams consumed of SN only, there can be various factors which can affect successful and unsuccesful cases like no antiemetics, too much water, etc... since there are various factors playing like the substance/medication used, the quantity, other substances (bezons, beta blockers), I wanted to leave those on the side and just keep it simple

In total from Vizzy's list with empirical evidence, there were 44 successful vs. 16 unsuccessful which is 73% success rate (strictly based of the users list on his post).

I created a range which I felt had enough sample of users, but one should consider that 60 is still a small amount samples, but this is what we got to work with. For example, the range 28g to 51g has only 7 cases (which is why the range if very high)

Stats2

The once consumed between 19g to 24g (most concentrated with 20g) had 81% success, while the 25g to 27g (most concentrated around 25g) had 90% success. Those who took 18g or less were more likely to fail than succeed.

Stats
This shows that despite small sample of cases, those who stick to the 20g-25g had more likelihood chances of success.

I wanted to emphasized that it is important to just accept this based on the information of what we got, it's not scientific or evidential, it is just stats based off the info we have at hands. Each individual is different and you should do your research

Not the way you calculate it, say you have two range with the following:

RangeSuccessFailure%Success
A990100%
B010%
Total99199%

The above has total of 99 success rate to the 100 of samples with 99%. If you were just adding (100% + 0%)/2 = 50%, that would be misleading

Nice work here Twilight, puts things into perspective. The 73% does make sense considering I've seen medical literature document a few cases of intentional sn ingestion and the mortality rate is around there.

Most of us here don't doubt that SN does the job pretty well past 20-25g, but where there is still debate is if it's painless or not.

it has some discomfort but it isn't truly absolutely agonizing enough to put off most people also the meds do make it better especially some form of a sedative.

I think most of the unsuccessful attempts were due to not following the regime properly due to spontaneity, or being found too early. If we consider this, the success rate is actually quite high. SN is definitely some serious stuff.

Thank you for putting this together. It confirms what I suspected I suppose- that it's best to follow the protocol and take the amount suggested for a person's weight. It's obviously that figure for a reason.
