  • Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 5.29

As you intend to live when you are gone out, so it is in your power to live here. But if men do not permit you, then get away out of life, yet do so as if you were suffering no harm.
The house is smoky, and I quit it. Why do you think that this is any trouble?
But so long as nothing of the kind drives me out, I remain, I am free, and no man shallhinder me from doing what I choose; and I choose to do what is according to the nature of the rational and social animal.

—Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, Book 5 (tr Long)

His thoughts of death:
"Is any man afraid of change? What can take place without change? What then is more pleasing or more suitable to the universal nature? And canst thou take a bath unless the wood undergoes a change? And canst thou be nourished, unless the food undergoes a change? And can anything else that is useful be accomplished without change?"

About death..

I am writing back to myself. Interesting conversation we have going on here. ;) Time to sleep now... Good night, or day, to you all.

(This was supposed to be written in similar stoic thread which wasn't marked under words "recovery". He and other stoics had many very good advices how to suffer less in life and for life in overall also.)

Yes. Stoicism is good stuff. It pre-dates Christianity though it seems to have a proto-Christian / Buddhist bent. It addresses the slings and arrows in life in a pragmatic manner where Christianity and Buddhism can be somewhat nebulous.

There are many videos out there on Stoicism, here is one I recently came across:

Have any of you read anything about the stoics? I've being very hate-filled and feeling overall frustrated these days, but the stoic philosophy really helped me out. I really recommend that you get into that.

I mean I read that and I understood that I already live like that and I am still feeling like shit so it didn't really work for me.
