Lol, what a magnificent piece of writing. This is the kinda shit I wish I had the eloquence to come up with. Alas, I lack this level of talent.
Not sure why such a based user was banned because this rhetoric always drove me up a wall when I was in the CTB mix. I'd say that anyone who un-ironically makes that argument against S-ing should be ridiculed and banned on sight. That's how banal and dishonest it is. It's worse than asking "who hurt you?" in my eyes.
Any info on why this user was banned?

Sorry, for this "sad truth" but a lot of us have permanent problems that won't go away and that we will have to carry with us and will get worse as we continue to age in this life.

All our problems are temporary as we are mortal. Suicide is not a game changer, it would be, if we would not age and can only die by, let's say, decapitation, like in the movie Highlander.

The refutation of this oft-cited slogan is to say that "temporary" just means non-infinite. A billion years can be temporary. A temporary, billion year period of suffering, for example. From that standpoint, a permanent solution to a temporary problem is a total godsend.

Oh, ladies and gentlemen, stop everything! We are in the presence of the Einstein of motivational psychology, the Tesla of obviousness, the Mozart of cliché wisdom. A prodigy of human intellect who has just solved the entire existential dilemma with the same depth as a fortune cookie written by a hamster on amphetamines.
What a historic moment! Imagine all the great philosophers rolling in their graves, seething with jealousy for not having come up with such an earth-shattering revelation. Sartre? Schopenhauer? Amateurs. Apparently, centuries of existential thought were a complete waste of time when all it took was one Hallmark-card-sized phrase to solve the meaning of life.
But let's take a good look at this dispenser of prepackaged wisdom. See that glimmer in their eyes? That sacred glow of self-satisfaction, the smugness of someone who believes they've just dropped a truth bomb so powerful it will reshape the universe. They feel like a god. They utter the phrase and now expect the world to halt in reverence, bystanders to weep in gratitude, maybe even a statue erected in their honor.
But nothing happens. Because the truth is, this phrase has the same intellectual impact as a fart in a hurricane. It's so banal, so overused, so utterly stupid that just repeating it should be classified as a crime against intelligence.
But let's imagine the moment this person first discovered this pearl of wisdom. Maybe they read it scrawled on a public restroom wall, wedged between a phone number and an insult to someone's mother. Maybe they found it printed on the back of a scratch-off lottery ticket, right next to an ad for predatory loans and a half-baked horoscope. And boom! Epiphany. "This phrase will change my life. No, better! It will change everyone's life! I must spread it, I must share it, I must regurgitate it to every poor soul I encounter!"
And so, armed with the self-confidence of a toddler explaining quantum mechanics, they embark on their holy mission: to enlighten the ignorant masses, to make sure every suffering soul knows that their problems are just temporary, that life is beautiful, that all it takes is a little patience. Because they know. They understand. They alone hold the key to saving humanity, one brainless slogan at a time.
So, the next time someone drops this phrase on you, take a deep breath. Look them straight in the eyes. Reflect on all the poor life choices that led them to believe they just said something profound when, in reality, they've just uttered the philosophical equivalent of a burp. Then, with all the seriousness you can muster, respond:

"Wow, genius. Tell me, do you find these in a catalog, or do they tattoo them directly onto your brain at birth?
I would like to thank you for making me laugh today through my pain.

God I wish I had told this to my fuckass psychotherapist when he dropped that turd of a wisdom. Because my first impulse was like "Life is also a temporary problem and to be quite frank, suicide would fix that pretty handily"

why would anyone want a temporary solution?
for me, suicide is a permanent solution for a permanent problem because ocd is chronic.
autism is also something i am stuck with and so is my skin color.

It is true but that doesn't mean it can be the answer. Sometime you just want to commit suicide because it will end the pain. Temporary or not.

When the healthcare system is incapable of coping with your "temporary" problem than CTB is a viable solution

This was a great read haha. I think the statement holds true for impulsive suicides but for people with chronic mental or physical illnesses the problem is never temporary

It actually gets worse everyday. Day by day. When you are a baby and a kid you are at your easiest. And the older you get, the more responsibilities that pile up, more reason to ctb.

Genuinely the line could be answer to the question "Tell me you've never faced a real problem in your life without telling me you've never faced a real problem in your life".

My temporary problems have been ruining my life for the past 16 years 🥲 it is so temporary that no medicine or doctor was able to make it go away in these 16 years.

people are stupid when it comes to mental health ☹️
You are very right about this. Even now in countries where Physician Assisted Suicide is legal, many people think it shouldn't be granted to PTSD, Bi-Polar, etc. It's like people think "I can't see the disease on you, therefore it isn't real" and that is just shitty and short-sighted. I think in one of the European countries there was an uproar because a pretty 20 year old something girl was approved and CTB over depression. It was horrific to read the comments on those stories "She was so pretty".... I'm thinking "if every day is torture, what does "pretty" matter". Welcome to the shitty world we have to live in.

Good gravy this made me laugh but really made me hopeful honestly. Ever since I've decided to CTB I've had the usual feelings of guilt and fear over what others will think of me and how I should live for them but this post calls out that bullshit perfect. TeMpOrArY sOlUtIoN is the most fuckass easy to sling rebuttal that these people throw around all the time like okay asshole you may as well tell me to pull up my bootstraps and toughen up while you're at it. This website has really changed my perspective on suicide and I don't feel alone anymore lol.

The same thing actually happened in my county just a few days ago. A hungarian actress killed herself by hanging and suddenly the entire county is like WOOOOW what happened??? but she was so pretty!
I read lots of comments and i became more disgusted by humanity.. I can't tell you how many men commented things like "What a shame, she was so pretty I would've given her my love"
Disgusting.
"But why? She was beautiful! Her boyfriend probably broke up with her"
"Damn what a waste of beauty"
I always knew hungarians are very stupid when it comes to mental health, but these comments... they have zero idea what depression is. Zero.

This applies to a very nieche situation and not as a broad sweeping statement. Its a permanent solution to a permanent problem depending on the situation. Don't have the means to escape the rat race and your life will be hell on the street till you die. Well then its a ps to a pp. Or mental disorder that leaves them unable to work. Also physical disorder. Hell what if you just hate this capitalistic fucked up world and don't want to be a part of the system anymore. Then it's also a valid escape.

To say it's a temporary problem is bullshit as well because life always throws you with problems till the day your heart stops, it's an unending amount of "temporary problems"

"temporary problem" being an incurable medical condition and the pain of living with it or the fear it can paralyze me any moment
