What really makes the difference between people who give up in this battle between the body (subconscious/SI) wanting to live and the conscious wanting CTB and people who can do CTB? I get curious thinking about this, is it simply a matter of suffering more pain than you can bear and that it is so great that the pain of death is more preferable because it is less or is there something beyond that?

I think it's to do with narrowing down all your options to realise that death is the only one left. I feel like those who have done this will eventually overcome SI even if it's not in their first attempt, whereas those who haven't will remain hesitant until they are ready...

I wish that were true because it seems rational yet many suffer abject pain for a very long time not being able to make the final move.

Being Impulsive will give someone that extra push to go through with their attempt if they are triggered and suicidal.

If your current pain or fear of pain is so great, that dying is the most logical escape, you will most likely push through your SI.

I'm incredibly impulsive so I will intentionally trigger myself when I'm ready to ctb, to help me get through the SI. Fear can also push someone through their SI. If I knew I was gonna be tortured by someone I would off myself without a second thought or hesitation. The fear would push me to kill myself.

It's different for everyone I'm sure. Feeling backed into a corner with no other option, having no hope and sometimes impulsiveness can be factors.

In my case, I feel like I really want to CTB but my brain overcomes everything I feel and I just can't go through it. The pain gets so bad I can just sleep the whole day just to not feel it but still can't get myself to do it.

Also out of context but you got Yoñlu picture/nickname, it's been years since I last saw him mentioned anywhere, it's nice to remember him.
