if u think about it, humans are cursed in so many different ways;

first of all, having a mortal, physical body sucks. our body has needs and we arent always sure they'll be met. like you have to put work into surviving, you gotta eat, drink, have a roof over your head, and tend to all your bodily needs, its a lot of work.

pain and disability are also inevitable. me and you will sustain a bunch of injuries throughout our life, theres also nothing stopping us from suddenly developing disabilities or catching diseases that will make our lives living hell. some people are also just outright born disadvantaged in this area.

then theres the entire thing about being conscious, thinking beings. mental suffering is inevitable, we desire unattainable things or can find it very hard to be content with what we have, we are aware of our mortality and everyone elses and that makes some of us nervous, knowing that everything we know and love will die and wither away one day.

as shakespeare said:
All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages.
life is a performance and its kinda tiring to keep up with the roles we were assigned. dying must be a nice relief from all this pressure and burden

Yep!

I for one, am very surprised there isn't any notable philosophical school of thought, that is based on the idea that humanity might be the lowest form of existence, rather than its highest.

I mean, you'd think at least *some* notable thinkers would have considered such an obvious hypothesis...

Nope, not one. Not even the pessimists... Schopenhauer, the champion of that field, acknowledges human life is atrocious, but he still views people as the highest form of life...

Very strange!

They shame those who long for death, but never question why so many feel that way. It's easier to silence the symptom than confront the disease that is life.

Reading this made my heart hurt. Especially with what Shakespeare said. 💔

I understand, I feel the same way, more than anything I wish I never suffered in this futile, cruel and torturous existence at all and I always find it so deeply undesirable to exist, I find it the most terrible tragedy how this existence was imposed that just causes and brings so much suffering there was never a need for with no limit as to how much one can be tortured. I just suffer so much from being burdened with this existence, to me existence really does just feel like a mistake and I'd never wish to be conscious of anything at all rather all I want is to not exist, only non-existence can bring me the relief I search for.
