Suicide is not peace. People who kill themselves don't find peace. If you want true peace, keep living and try the best you can to find peace here. Peace requires concious experience. Suicide is nothing. Means nothing. I hate suicide. You take your suffering with you to the grave.

For me, nothingness is peace. Consciousness is not and requires/guarantees a level of unpleasantness/unhappiness (for me at least). Not to mention the endless possibilities of bad things that can happen to someone; most of these are due to other people, such as being assaulted, brutally murdered, harassed, raped, etc. Others are due to pure chance, such as developing an incurable disease. Either way, while I live I can never truly be at peace knowing that at any moment a terrible fate can befall me.

You can't experience nothingness. You can't experience peace either. Subjective experience ceases as far as we know. As for what comes after, noone knows, and so it is not reasonable to take your life on the presumtion that you'll be given a new one in my opinion. What we can plainly observe and see is that you cease to exist.

Maybe, but they say death isn't the end, it's a new beginning. That said, you're right. What comes after is unknown, but I also believe life works like a dream. And if you die in a dream, you enter the mysterious void for however long and wake up in different dream.

I respectfully disagree. Peace is about the absence of something. For me it would be the absence of feelings.. anger, paranoia, emotion, sadness, conflict. Death is peace from a life of misery.

Of course we know. Scientifically speaking all your experiences come from the brain. And by using philosophy you can then induce that all these are negative or not pleasurable enough. Therefore, suicide can be rational.

I can cry when I am thinking about pain which can touch someone close to me, but when I think about someone's death, I can feel mostly peace and calmness.
