I will start off by saying that I know a lot of people suggest not using prescription meds to OD but I'm hitting a point where I'm not sure what else I can do.
My plan has been to hang myself but I whenever I get to the point of actually dropping, SI keeps kicking in and stopping me.
So, I know venlafaxine ODs are possible and I'm more here to see if anyone has any suggestions on the amount to take to maximise the chances of being successful and any other tips for ways to make it more likely to work?
I currently have just under 7grams of it saved up- the tablets I take are prolonged release; so I'm wondering if crushing them up would also help them to hit better?
I'm 5'6" and on the bigger side of a 'healthy weight', I would guess 150lb-160lbs but that is a guess!

I'm sure there are more bits of information that would be helpful so please feel free to ask if anyone does have any bits that will help with my situation!

Venlafaxine in ER form is not a reliable method. But fatal outcomes have been recorded starting around 2500 mg ish, but survival has occurred at doses exceeding 10000 mg, and many people end up in intensive care rather than the morgue.

7 grams is a highish dose but not a guaranteed lethal one especially considering the ER formulation. Crushing the tablets does bypass the time release mechanism and leads to a faster spike in blood plasma levels. In other words, it might hit harder, but not more effectively. You could very well lose consciousness, convulse, aspirate, suffer organ damage, and still wake up.

A person your size is within average adult parameters. More important things are metabolic rate, liver enzyme function, whether food was consumed beforehand, any co ingestants, and the speed of emergency response if you're found.

When my friend OD'd on venlafaxine, they took a little over 9 grams, all ER, crushed and swallowed with booze. They blacked out after about like 40 minutes and don't remember most of what happened after that, but woke up in the ICU two days later. They told me they'd had multiple seizures, a heart rate spike and then dropped, and had to be intubated because they stopped breathing at one point. Their liver values were off the charts, and the doctors thought they might have permanent damage, but they got lucky. Physically they recovered, mostly. Mentally, it scrambled them for weeks. They had constant vertigo, memory gaps, and basically a lingering fog that made everything feel fucked. It didn't work. They came back worse than they left.

This thread and the one @Praestat_Mori added are very very verrrry good resources. I know it's rough when you feel like you don't have many options but I promise you there are better ways.

Honestly? Look elsewhere.

Death via overdose by any of the "modern" antidepressants (really any created starting in the 1990s) is EXTREMELY unlikely, sorry. Won't say it can't happen, but SSRI/SNRIs (and I'm pretty sure Effexor/venlafaxine is an SNRI) were created explicitly to reduce the likelihood of fatal outcomes via overdose.

The era of taking a handful of tricyclics (Elavil, etc.) and chasing it with a liter of whiskey is sadly long in the past. There's a reason all the famous suicides from the 1950s through the 1980s used to use this method or something similar and nowadays seem to be mostly be resorting to hanging themselves. The pills typically available just don't react the same way.

Other than the fact it will not work, this is why I highly suggest you do not try to OD with venlafaxine. It can fuck you up when taking it as directed. Taking a massive dose of it can make you wish you had died even more.
