Hi, did you know this syndrome ? It's a higher rate of suicides after a celebrity took his own life. It makes sense to me

Interesting. I wasn't aware of it. I'm really surprised that so many people were able to take their lives with a flintlock pistol or whatever they had at the time?

And here I am thinking I needed a.357 Magnum to be sure.

This really makes me think what is going on in the world for this to be happening? At what point will they say that suicide is an epidemic? people who ctb after seeing a celibrity do it clearly had other stuff going on and that was their only support left. In the absence of another support they turn to it themselves and if they really wanted to and had no other option wether the celeb did it or not I feel they would have

Now media refrain from reporting suicides of celebrities. This CTB prevention measure seems to have scientific backs and statistics. But I believe it is covering up death from society, stagnating free discussions about suicide, and perpetuating social stigma on suicidal people as side effects.

actually i thought about it because i hear almost everyday cases of suicides in mass medias. i like doing my own research on the internet (i'm overthinking 24/24 and 7/7 probably Aspergers syndrome). i'd like my brain to have a "off" button because overthinking causes me a lot of troubles

I get it. Apart from that, I don't really think you can overthink suicide. I think someone's first attempt should be their last. I prioritize health and safety. I don't want an attempt that leaves me damaged.

I will be taking my time for sure.

Not quite celebrity but there's a case of copycat suicide in my country recently.

For some reason many people chose this newly built mall to jump off, only the first person was successful iirc because the mall isn't high enough to kill anyone and there are stalls underneath.

It got so bad that the mall had to put in a giant suicide net in the middle which make the whole place looks ugly. Kinda feel sorry for the owner(s) ngl.

Sorry I giggles at your post. Kinda. Shot placement has ALWAYS been the gold standard. People just don't want to believe it.

No one commits suicide without a reason... there will always be a triggering factor in a person's life (illness, trauma, anguish/grief, problems of all kinds...)

Watching or hearing the news of someone who died by suicide will only appeal to those who have once considered taking their own life. Since it will provide information about the method used or how it was done. Perhaps that's why they don't reveal so many details and information when these events happen.

A person with a normal life wouldn't do it just out of boredom or curiosity. I don't think that if they saw someone jump into the void and die they would also think "oh, I want to jump too".
