THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS.The worst platitude for me is when people say a lot of positive stuff and then leave you to decay, as if you are a ghost. After all, the purpose of all the platitudes is to avoid issues, avoid those suffering, and trample over them to get back to their own life. People just don't care about others, they never have. As such, the true platitude is the indifference and apathy underneath their hollow words.
I have started making the analogy that it's like someone is standing in the middle of a burning building, ready to die. Instead of coming in with a fire extinguisher or a blanket or water, some asshole walks in and says "You'll be fine. The fire isn't real. This will all work out in the end" and then walks away. People say the few catch phrases that show up on the first page of Google results for "what to do if someone is suicidal" then give themselves a gold star for the day and move on. Everyone does the bare minimum they need to do to pat themselves on the back and don't actually care about the human being who is suffering in front of them.
