Recently, I have been working hard to overcome my anxiety. I tried the 4, 7, 8 breathing technique and grounding. Movies or music. I have discovered recently that Legos (as childish as that sounds) has been a huge help in distracting my mind from the anxious thoughts. What do you guys do to try and overcome anxiety?

depends entirely on what the trigger is. if i'm alone weighted blankets and mindlessly scrolling through tiktok or youtube. i've found science videos actually calm me down a lot, nilered does some interesting stuff and it's not that hard to follow along. around people it's harder but i usually just try to focus on my breathing.

Reading helps with my general anxiety throughout the day. Some days I can't focus when it's bad but when it works it's so calming.

I think breathing techniques can be very powerful. I also did a lot of 4-7-8 as well as box breathing, which is a technique that was adopted by navy seals to control stress. Besides that, I try to meditate for 20 minutes every day and reprogram my subconscious mind by listening to hypnosis tapes (anti-depression/anxiety, positive affirmations, etc.) on YT while falling asleep. If you are interested in this, check out Bruce Lipton.

Try Trataka technique. It's cheap. You just need a candle. I don't use a stand as advertised on the pic, I just put the candle on the floor.
Just be careful with fire and try not to burn your home down lol
But to be honest, a little Valium pill does the job too but you need to be careful with benzos
So many people here have anxiety. This stressful world doesn't help to feel good...

Hello I use Neuro Hypnotic repatterning which was developed by Richard Bandler, basically when you start to feel anxious notice how you feel inside there will be waves of patterns travelling in a certain direction, they could be going in a figure of eight a circle straight lines you name it every one is different. Try and hook your mind into this pattern and reverse is using your mind. If you are in a situation where you can remember this technique it will help you the trouble I have is forgetting to use it although when I do it works extremely well and you can also use it for unwanted emotions, feelings and fears, I saw Richard Bandler demonstrate the technique on a rare video and that's all I needed to see to be able to use it, have a look on YouTube for more info and good luck.

I've found going to the park to help in my case, as I feel most anxious when I am at home. I sit on a bench by myself and watch the birds and people come and go. If there's some breeze, it is soothing. Also, on a couple of occasions very kind elderly people have struck conversation with me, which can be a strange way to feel less anxious if you are a bit antisocial. But then, it is perhaps the no pressure and no expectations attitude of these people that makes a difference.

Also, doing some grocery shopping - if it helps you, no need to buy everything in one go, so that you would have to go more often to buy groceries. Then, if it's a supermarket, you can look around what kind of products they have as a distraction. No need to hurry. Read labels, check prices, try to make different combinations of products in your head for the next lunch or dinner. This might sound crazy, but I've found it helps me.

For me it depends on what is causing the anxiety. Some general coping skills I have:
  • Deep breathing: I usually do three sets of 4-4-6 breathing followed by three sets of 5-7-8
  • Regular meditation
  • Getting out into nature and away from my apartment
  • Finding some online meetup to distract me
  • Physical exercise

Dissociate...... it's the lesser evil, here's how I do it. Use at your own risk, this may cause uncontroled dissociation later on. It hasn't for me and I don't mind dissociating so I'm gonna keep doing it.

Imagine the sky in yellow purple and red waves, make the paint drip down to the floor. Make it look fake. Think LSD color effects, and tell yourself it's not real.

Be aware that you are behind your eyes, your body is moving, and your mind reside in one part of you.

If you can imagine yourself walking behind your body, if not watch the world, and mentally distance yourself from it.

Moslty having a fidget toy or evnlen drawing can help too, reading even doing some first letter last letter and thoughts.

Ofc everyone is different even some scented oils or candles or humidifier can be relaxing to some.

If your in a public space I always be with someone listen to music or even a documentary or just seeing really mundane things

Ofc theres tons of different ideas theres no one size fits all, even having more than one alternative can be handy.
