What do you think is there in the afterlife?

We all are here cuz we have suicidal thoughts, right? So, what is it about death that makes you want to die? How do you imagine death? What do you think will happen to you after you die? Will you dissappear or will there be an afterlife? What if the afterlife was more awful than this life? Did you think about it this way?

I do not believe there is or can be an afterlife as we think of it. It is theoretically possible that some remainder of the energy that makes us alive is transferred elsewhere at the moment of our death, but I do not believe that is conscious, if so... and it would just dissipate and settle into the universe the same as our decaying bodies.

For what it's worth, I definitely hope there is not an afterlife. I want this to all be over.

I just believe death to be non-existence, nothing more than an eternal dreamless sleep where this dreadful, cruel and deeply undesirable existence is finally all forgotten about which is all I hope for. All I want is to never suffer again in this existence I always saw as a mistake and no matter what I'll always see it as an abomination to exist, I'll always see it as the most torturous and futile burden to suffer in this existence with no limit as to how much agony one can feel, only non-existence can bring me peace.

It's near death as in there's still brain activity.
I don't think there's an afterlife as how many people described it, because you need all those senses to experience any of it, which isn't possible when your brain isn't working at all.

What explains dreams or hallucinations while taking LSD? Our brains and senses f*cking with us. I sometimes dream I can fly. Does that mean I can and, I'm just not trying hard enough?

NDR's are definitely odd and fascinating but, I don't see them as proof of an afterlife. Even if multiple people claim to have seen the same thing. A bright light etc. What if they are expecting to see it? Could that not be influencing their perception?

I read about a really tragic case actually once, when a patient died as they were having a brain scan. Awful for him- obviously but, it must have been useful to those witnessing it. Apparently, the brain displayed vigorous activity in certain areas. Especially those associated with memory. Hence, perhaps why people claim their life flashed before their eyes.

We know the brain/ body is capable of producing very potent hormones. We've likely all experienced an adrenaline rush. I can fully believe that at the end, the brain gets swamped with all sorts of natural chemicals. It wouldn't surprise me if it's like nothing we ever experienced before. That isn't necessarily proof that those things were real though- outside of our own bodies and brains.

It would be different (for me) if we didn't dream and we didn't hallucinate under certain conditions. Seeing as we are capable of both though, I just personally see NDE's an an extreme extension of that.

I just don't know about an afterlife. I'm hoping for nothing personally. I've already lived this life against my will. I don't fancy the next one being the same. Plus, if there is a creator behind this world, I don't want to be a part of anything else they've had their hands in. Either heaven or hell and, definitely not for eternity! I don't have a strong belief either way though. Only fear!

Everything Forever Sleep already said above... and... Some people lie. I mean, who says that anything anyone says has to be true just because they said it? There are people who have faked having cancer for sympathy and money and that is something that a doctor could catch and expose them for doing but they get away with it for years sometimes.

One could easily lie and say they saw or experienced something they didn't, and who could prove them wrong?

I don't believe in life after death.

The way I see it, there is a state of consciousness after death that is comparable to when you are unconscious or asleep and when you wake up you think you weren't dreaming.
Since I assume that consciousness is caused by the activity of the brain, and I understand death as brain death, nothing is perceived. It is simply black and you are not aware of anything.

i've talked to people who were convinced this WAS the afterlife, that all of us are suffering in hell. I don't buy it but if I were religious it certainly helps solve the problem of evil.
