Help What kind of gun is this?

Basically what the title says. I apologize for the terrible photo as I was incredibly nervous of being caught taking it.
I need to know what type of gun it is and how effective it would be for ctb. Background removed for privacy reasons, I'm sorry if that makes it hard to see.

For context it is my dad's gun, I have absolutely no knowledge about guns. I cannot ask him about it as I've never shown much interest in guns and I'm afraid it will raise suspicion. He knows I have a history of depression and harming myself.
It's kept out in the open but it's where my dad sleeps and he rarely leaves his bed, let alone the house.
I know guns are not a preferred method due to SI but it might be the only option for me.
I do not have a set plan in mind yet.

Not a hundred percent and dont know the place your at but if in US they are lookong at charging parents for childrens actions, I would strongly suggest review the sticky threads on death by gun. That gun will kill but not most likely in the way you may hope.

Understand looking at the end, may want to take a hard look st that gun option, make sure you are really comfortable with the effects all around.

Can you share a photo of the other side?

I'm not an expert at spotting these. But I cannot see anywhere to load the gun, other than the pistol grip. So, this looks like a "pistol", such as a .22 or 9mm caliper, that is converted into a rifle format with a stock, vertical grip, and long barrel. In the US some guns can be legally classified as pistols even though they look like the same shape as a rifle.

The grip looks really thin, so I'm thinking the ammo clips are quite small. Maybe it is just a .22lr, not 9mm.
