• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

But is it a good place to buy a rope? Will they have nylon ropes?
Yes, as a sailor I can assure you that if it is genuinely catering to people with boats, they will have good rope.

Buy something like a 10mm braided nylon: it will be strong enough to hold you and slippery enough that the noose you tie will slide properly.

Look at a rope's break strength: you want something that can carry at least your entire weight. It should be on the lable. Even if it isn't, if it's braided nylon, and you're buying it off a spool, anything 10mm should be plenty strong enough.

If you need an excuse for buying a short length of rope, just say that you've been looking at YouTube videos and want a length of line for tying some of the fancy knots you've seen videos of. However, if you use that excuse, be casual about asking about break strength, since if you're just tying fancy knots break strength is meaningless. Just go with a casual, "gosh, how strong is this stuff, anyway?"

Thank you! I just came up with something: I could say it's for a swing

I just looked through the internet page of that sailor shop and I couldnt find any rope... is this possible? Maybe they don't have everything on their site? It seems weird... What other shops will have strong nylon rope?

That is weird. Can you easily get to the store to have a look in person?

Here in the US, hardware stores often have decent rope. Not great, but adequate.
