  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Let's say, you could body swap with any person in the world tomorrow, only once. You'd become them and they'd become you. Would you do it? And who would you pick if you did?

Keeping in mind you could think of it like hurting the other person since they don't choose to get to inhabit your body, and they might not like it. Puts a little spin on the question I guess.

For me.. I think I would pick Sarah Schulman. I feel like they'd be able to get my life together. And I sure wouldn't mind moving into a loving feminist family.

I wouldn't be me anymore. Your mental state is very much influenced by your body. Body and mind cannot be separated. The moment you change your body, you also change mentally. You can see this with disabled people, you can see this with fat people, you can see this with bodybuilders and runners and more, you can see this with pretty people, you can see this with ugly people.

I would, but I would be very selective... it would have to be someone who is evil, who deserves my horrible life. I couldn't make that change for someone with a good heart. I would change myself for someone evil who had just moved to some rural area of Japan. That way I would have my dream of going to Japan come true, and at the same time someone evil would suffer my life.

I would only really do that to get out of my situation to get more freedom, not really for their body as I like and prefer my own body so I probably won't do it.

There's cemetery nearby. Plenty of people to choose from. I'd gladly swap body with anyone willing to stay alive for their resting place.

Nah, I think it would be unfair to give someone my life and let them fight my demons. I'd feel too guilty if they could have it better in their own bodies. I know there's always someone worse off, but the person in mine will suffer from feeling totally worthless all the time even if perceived better from the outside.

I would body swap with a pine tree. Could just sway in the wind and hang out in nature until my death, and the pine tree would just remain unmoved by all the stressors in my life.

I wouldn't bother because the person cannot consent and because it wouldn't do shit. I'd still be me, at least to some degree. I'll just be in a different body.

There's one friend who we have literally had conversations about being able to switch our bodies and we would if we could so, maybe it can be consensual and mutually beneficial?

someone dead. they stay dead, i get to die. win win. (that is assuming upon switching my mind doesn't just stay inside a dead person for eternity which would just ruin everything)

I muse on this pretty often, and honestly? A billionaire's child. It's not that I want to be rich (frankly, I despise rich people for a multitude of reasons)- but that their resources (money and influence) afford them FAR more security than everyone else, and in a rapidly destabilizing world, that's a luxury I desperately want. At the same time, I sure as hell don't have the brain/skills to be somebody like Musk or Bezos, so being their child would allow me to avoid the responsibility.
Yes, this is a deeply cynical perspective, but in a cutthroat world, it feels like the only way to survive.

I meannn I think you should just swap with a billionaire who doesn't have a shit ton of public attention like Musk. Even if you don't have brains you can just withdraw from all business ventures and sit on your wealth for the rest of your days lol. You'd literally be too big to fail.

Bye bye humanity, I'm gonna be an eagle.

If I'm picking a human, I'd pick a tall cis male, or I could be funny and swap with trump and ctb to cause chaos.
