  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I'm not that egotistical and don't believe that they're sexually attracted to me. I imagine a lot just want to be polite and friendly but why them?

I wonder why some are comfortable smiling and saying hello to a stranger, while others arent.

Some people, including women, like to feel connected to the people around them, even if only for a fleeting moment. If you live in a very rural area, most people will smile and nod at you, although that's dying out there too. In cities or towns there are too many people to give eye contact to so you can only pick a few at random.

It gives people a slight emotional boost inside to acknowledge others and be acknowledged. Conversely, staring at nothing while moving through a faceless mass of humans makes many feel lonely and sad.

People also do this to defuse their surroundings. Maybe you look sad, so they smile in the hopes you'll reciprocate and feel slightly better. That may not even be very conscious by the way. However, I would hazard a guess that this is bog standard eye contact.

Sometimes it is to keep a distance, sometimes it is friendly. I think women smile and look away when they are interested, or don't react at all, or act a little flustered. Hair touching is a giveaway.

I can't remember the last time a woman smiled at me just for the hell of it (outside of formally meeting me etc). I hate that but I also know I look unapproachable. I am very tall and have tattoos. The thing is, it's something I have to be okay with because I have a girlfriend which essentially means I am neutered, but I always crave independent validation outside of that for some reason. Do others have that need as well?
