The youtube link above is an interesting video about why passivity breeds mediocrity and mental illness.

Could it be dangerous to have too much time in our hands and using that time just thinking about the negatives of life and past traumatic experiences.

Would a loving God strip away mans nervous system so he could not endure pain? Could a healthy days amount of pain, sorrow and stress be a piece of the recipe to reach ones own fulfilment, reward and "happiness"?

Im not in a place to watch this kind of psychological stuff anymore, but I would say yes.... but the thing is what brought on the passivity? And yes, while a reasonable amount of pain is part of being a human animal that plays a part in develpoment... for so many of us, things get skewed, abuse and neglect warped or stunted our minds & emotions.... but yeah, there needs to be goals, striving, effort, action.... my opinion is that most of us have tried doing what is natural (trying to succeed at life) in an unnatural environment ( isolated, no community, broken families, long woek hours, commutes, fast paced). So many are not just working against the current of entropy but of an entire system that is so individual focused, that only the truly strongest succeed..... But yeah.... passivity in excess is not helpful and can lead to shit, but why passive in first place?

I know what you mean when you said your not in a place to watch these kinds of videos, even i find it hard to grasp in such a depressive and anxiety ridden mood. That is one of the reasons why i shared it with this forum so i can hear what you guys think about it and maybe get some clarity on the subject.

Yes i agree, an unnatural environment can definitely make it more difficult to grow and can be a factor for mental illness.

What do you mean"why passive in the first place"?
