I often wonder if it's possible from sheer willpower alone to willingly walk yourself down a boat launch and drown.

I've heard about SI doing some crazy rescue missions .. but if your mind is truly made up, what will it wake?

SI isn't always related to conscious choice at all. Some SI is mental and can be overcome with willpower, but I believe it's mostly referring to, as you said, the body achieving some pretty crazy rescue missions on its own. Once a person is unconscious, their will isn't a part of the equation

Incredibly, incredibly hard. As someone who's tried drowning as a method, I don't recommend it. Even the most suicidal person has some kind of SI, and even if their willpower is strong, SI has a high chance of taking over. The body knows when it is being deprived of something it needs to survive (oxygen) and it triggers the brain to panic. Also, with drowning you have more panic time, since you have to wait to drown. The only way I see drowning ever being a successful ctb method is if there's no way to back out once it's attempted.

Thank you for your kind words. Here's to hoping.. It is the only method I have left. I never learned how to swim , and I really hope SI doesn't teach it to me when the going gets tough.
