• Hey Guest,

As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. The UK and OFCOM has singled out this community and have been focusing its censorship efforts here. It takes a good amount of resources to maintain the infrastructure for our community and to resist this censorship. We would appreciate any and all donations.

There are many different reasons someone could CTB, and I get that they have the right to do so and that there could be many other premeditated factors to their suicide other than just the election. But CTBing over something that may not even directly effect you to such a significant point over any other directly factors is probably one of the most naive reasons to leave. Not saying much else because my schedule is tight but that's all I have to say. Your lives are worth significantly more than what happens in politics and there's better things to be concerned about in the course of your lives.

im wouldnt kill my self purely because someone won something, its more how it will affect me.
politics could affect my access to gender affirming care thats kept me from offing myself, it could affect my rights to reproductive health, and so many other things.

most people who name call etc over this (also kind of a gross word to use OP, expand your vocabulary) aren't going to experience the consequences of a trump win.

Nobody is killing themselves over politics or any other direct issue. If someone wants to die it's usually due to a myriad of things. Watching people vote your rights away can reasonably be the tipping point for a lot of people who have been suffering for years

Your choice of words is not exactly nice. There's a lot adjectives that would have been a better choice.
There's people on here who are gonna be hurt by your choice of words.

As for ctb over politics. I'm not from the us so I refrain from judgement cause it doesn't affect me personally.
I have lived there. If I still did I'd go for watch and wait, cause I feel it's not unlikely someone might attempt to shoot someone again (not condoning this, just saying it's not unlikely to happen realistically)

Here's the thing, shit like this does actually have a direct impact on others. This is especially the case for marginalized communities who risk having their rights taken away or having policies made to screw them over. That's not even getting into the fact that depending on who wins, it may lead to more hateful groups of people feeling more empowered and thus less afraid to show their true colours and go out of their way to harm others and further advocate to take their rights away.

imagine a woman trying to get an abortion, but couldn't because the majority of the dumbass population decided to place an idiot in the white house who doesn't give a fuck about women's rights. then these women will end up resorting to aborting in worse ways out of desperation if they even have the courage to.
while this is not what everyone is going to experience, trump being in office will affect a good amount of people's lives based on his and his party's dumbass backwards thinking decisions that is supported by a population of similar thinkers. he is not going to make any social issues better in any way. him being in office will enforce further the already difficult issue of racism, sexism, and many others.

this country is being run by politicians, therefore politics will affect everyone's lives one way or another
and what do politicians have a lot of that many don't? money -- and money equals influence over how the country runs
a person is just a play thing for their own agendas

so yes, this is a valid reason. moving to another country is not always an option, as again, money is something that many struggle to have.

Some groups of people might be legitimately oppressed by the winner of this election so to say politics barely affects people significantly is just ignorant

Every American will be affected by Trump, in some way or another. Just like 2016. For some of us it will be particularly bad, so bad we feel we can not go on. Politics is "retarded" (I really hate that word) but it still had terrible effects on all of us, particularly when someone like this is voted into office. It feels truly hopeless for me. I'm terrified of what sort of change is coming to the country and how it will effect me.

I don't think calling any reason for someone wanting to end their life 'retarded' is very helpful. Especially here.

This sort of thing can feel like the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm not sure anyone has rushed off to actually do it as yet. It's probably more that, this is what they've been absoltutely dreading and, it's now happened.

Also, bear in mind that this isn't just people imagining what a rule under Trump will be like- they've already lived through 4 years of it! I imagine they are better placed to know how it affected their lives the last time.

I'm purposefully naive when it comes to politics. It all pretty much sickens me but, I can understand why they're worried.

An arrogant way of stating your opinion with unnecessary and rude name calling but it looks like that's the prefered way this days. How you don't get how much effect it will have on people is beyond me, I feel like I could throw up over this and am not even from the US.

it's because these people have let the media instill the democrat party in them by internalisation.. a certain stratum of democrat voters seem to be dysgenic people that have compensated for their dysgenicity by creating an identity to live for, and this identity is inextricable from being a democrat, or commie or wtvr.. (this certainly happens on the right too with incels and so forth..)
i doubt this event will give an impetus for these people to finally end their lives as this stratum seems to be very fickle..and lifefuelled..

I don't care who won the US election and I don't consider Trump's victory a "tragedy". He's not a beast to me.

However, that's just my opinion and perspective.
People commit suicide for various reasons and politics is not a stupid reason.
Politics has a direct impact on us, so it matters.
Suicide is generally a tragedy, regardless of the reasons.
Sometimes unreasonable and stupid reasons for one person can be very important for another person.
Arguing about this topic won't help.
Of course, politicians are largely to blame for this whole situation, because they divide society every day.

whether a suicide is a tragedy or not is dependent on whether that person had any value and the cause/manner of death

Exactly. People who say they don't care about politics or whoever wins the election = I'm privileged enough for none of this to affect me. Pfft, if only we had that luxury. Women, immigrants, LGBTQ+ community, disabled people, children, POC are fucked.

I agree, although I think it's kinda cute people seriously think an election would change the course of the country and don't realize the outcome has already been determined by people no one votes for. Elections are smoke screens to distract the masses from trying to get a good look at the puppeteers behind the curtain.

I think it's kinda cute people think some unknown puppeteers have decided everything beforehand and we should just not even bother to vote. That everything people are feeling right now, the fear, the anxiety, the dread, is just them being silly. those feelings couldn't be from lived experience, from witnessing events over the past four years could it? the rise of white/christo/fascist nationalism, reproductive rights, lgtbq+ rights, bipoc... its not just trump, it's how openly vile the entire republican apparatus has become and these next four years may be quite devastating, with effects lasting long after 2028.

trump is the greatest grifter of all time. Trump voters are fools for thinking he will improve their situation. and republicans have always been far more favorable to the rich, the wealthy, corporations and successfully destroyed unions decades ago so workers can be exploited. so now for example TX and FL are happy to help businesses out by outlawing water breaks for workers working outdoor in deadly heat. Republicans are the epitome of wanting people to be wageslaves, to be constantly worried about their livelihood. more unions would mean greater worker rights/treatment and less wageslavery
