I was talking to a religious person about death and we touched on the subject of suicide, his arguments seemed absurd to me

People who committed suicide will be judged in the final judgment, and then those people will want God to forgive them, but it will be too late.

If a person decided to commit suicide then why the hell would he ask God to forgive him? Being his suicide a clear demonstration that God is the most unjust being that there can be

God tests us to overcome them, and suicidal thoughts are one of those tests.

Why the hell does God have to test me? Am I part of a universal cosmic exam where God is playing chess with the devil? What if I don't want to pass the test simply because I never decided to take it in the first place?

All evil is because of original sin

Original sin where God is an accomplice in knowing that this was going to happen, which means that God is the cause of all evil

Those were my answers, also I must say that I am a completely atheist

If there's really a "God", he's an evil bastard for sure.
Just look at the hell we live in! Just go to a children hospital and observe how they're suffering and dying.

Damn religion!

even the idea of a gigantic bar with Gothic-Viking theme, good music and streaptease in hell sounds more fun than a heaven where we must pay homage to a God for all eternity

I lost my faith not to long ago and its still left me lost. Personally I think that these "suicide additions" are from people in past times killing themselves due to the horrible things back then and the church putting in addendums to say "Actually if you kill yourself you wont get into heaven so don't and keep living for us." Scripture has been loosing coherency for years and people keep making revisions. I'm surprised people haven't realized how bullshit all of it is yet.

Original sin is the most nonsensical concept ever, and part of why I don't believe in Christianity anymore. The Eden story makes no sense whatsoever; if God punished us for Eve's actions, why didn't he just not put the tree there in the first place, or not give humans free will?

A hate god too. Why was I born as a useless shit in a poor insignificant family? Why someone becomes famous and rich without much effort - for example he/she is born into a royal family or some famous and rich family. On the other hand, no matter how much effort I've put into my studies and work, I've become practically homeless piece of shit.

It's BS trying to shut down individuals for the "greater good", i.e. for procreating and spreading, and to shut down any discussion about it. For similar reasons, homosexuality is declared a horrible sin and that's it. No discussion. It's an admission of failure and unwillingness to discuss or even think about it. Very convenient, isn't it.

The idea of God is the simplest way to explain existence. If God had not been invented until now, it would have taken a day to be created.

I am religious. However, I do not believe God wants us to suffer and our life gets worse with pain. God is Endless Mercy. God gave us the right to choose and free will not just to keep us suffering and be dependent on the level of medical science.

Religion is just a tool for the powerful to control the weak through fear and false promises. The church is against birth control, abortion, suicide, etc because they want a larger army of followers to give them more control and money.

If god exists and created the universe why does he need my money?

It is not I who will ask for forgiveness but God who will have to ask me for forgiveness once I'm gone. If God exists, he/she/it did a shit job of designing the human race. Don't tell me bullshit about how the exposure to sin is what caused humans to become corrupt. We were designed that way already. If God is really all powerful, why didn't he remove the horrible bits and keep the good ones and or start over from scratch? Was drowning the entire human population necessary when all you had to do was remove the sin from the forefathers and foremothers of humanity? One of the reasons I've started to hate the idea of God is because if he really does exist, what point is there in making us suffer and watching passively like some strange sadist. The twisted and evil people of this world are rewarded by God for their behaviors with riches, status, and good looks. The most humble, respectful, wholesome, honest, and caring people are punished with poverty, disease, bad looks, and mediocre corporate lifestyles. Makes no sense.

The fact that we have ugly people, disabled people, and people born with genetic abnormalities that they couldn't choose pretty much proves to me that God doesn't exist. If God is so perfect and he created us in his likeness why can he place such imperfect features into beings to suffer in a world that is dominated by beauty standards that praise perfection?

I think I assumed that too. It's kinda strange that it's so common to worry about this stuff; aren't there enough objective tangible shits to worry about already? Like the one that made me arse bleed after straining a bit or the one that is from someone's dog on me lawn and I'm like oye mate, the fuck?

These ideas of "god" are so silly. So typical for us dumb apes to declare that there is a God who will judge us etc. That's a real human way of looking at it.

Forgiveness doesn't mean much from a being who creates life to watch it suffer. Would you want to be forgiven by someone who runs a concentration camp with a population of 7-8 billion people?

A lot of those overly conservative ideas about religion are usually made up by people who have things to hide, or things they don't want to take responsibility for. Like the thing about original sin and how it makes people inherently evil, it's a way to explain away the bad things people do but don't want to take responsibility for doing. Instead they want to believe that if they confess, or apologize, or do good acts after, that it will cancel out the fact that they made the conscious choice to do something bad on their own accord, even though they know better.

I'm religious but I get where you're coming from, a lot of "devout" people don't question anything and blindly believe whatever a pastor tells them. So they end up twisting and mending the Bible like a too-long game of telephone.

I think these kinds of people get a twisted sense of superiority over deciding who will get judged however way. It keeps them from thinking about the fact that their hypocrisy and inconsideration may also affect their path on Judgement Day. They also don't have to think about how their idea of a judgemental and unforgiving God contradicts with the Bible's description of God who is all-knowing and all-loving.

In the past, the life of the average person wasn't great. Hard work in the fields only to have your lord take most of it and leave you with scraps. Being drafted to fight in wars. Then they hear that after they die, they get to go to paradise because they believe. So what are they going to choose? Spend the rest of their life toiling? Or get early access to heaven?
However this means the powers-that-be lose their precious labor force so they have to do something to stop it. And that's how the church came to say that suicide is a crime.

God offers a dialectic. The struggle of good and evil. If you remove the bad from this equation, the dialectic collapses. There is no scenario where everyone is fine and goes to heaven. So evil is a planned variable. Man just plays his part.
